Deschutes Anniversary Black Butte XXV 2013 Porter

This year, Deschutes Brewery is toasting 25 years with the 6th vintage of its imperial porter, Black Butte XXV. In order to celebrate in style, this iteration of the annual beer amps it up with the addition of Theo’s cocoa nibs, Mission figs and Medjool dates. The bourbon barrel aged portion of the beer was increased by 20 percent over past versions of this anniversary brew, and drinkers of Black Butte XXV will notice complex notes of vanilla, tart and dried fruit, and chocolate. With everything that’s going on in the flavor profile of this beer, you may have to raise several toasts just to experience it all. “Twenty-five years in business is a significant milestone for us, and our team wanted to create an anniversary brew that truly marked the occasion,” said Cam O’Connor, brewmaster for Deschutes Brewery. “Not only did we increase the aging amount in barrels for this beer, but we soured a small portion of the final blend. We added a bunch of new ingredients, including black currants. I think fans will find that there are many layers of delicious complexity in this year’s version.” Beer Advocate: 95 World Class, RateBeer: 100 11% ABV, 55 IBUs

Iron Horse Brewlette

What is Brewlette? Iron Horse Brewlette is a new, experiential, limited-release, draught-only beer series where you/we/us/they have no idea what kind of beer is in the keg until it’s tapped. And even then, it may take one or two pints to figure it out. Okay, that sounds confusing, here’s a different take: We are going to make 3 beers at a time (30 barrels each), Big and Hoppy, Big and Malty, Big and Balanced, all between 7-7.9% ABV. Next, we will keg these beers, but not label, which is which. Then, when we ship them to accounts across Washington (and Enoteca in Idaho), none of us will have any idea which of these beers you get. Hence, Iron Horse Brewlette. (okay, maybe 1 IHB person will know) If you prefer a better explanation, then read Kendalls write up on Washington Beer Blog

Great Divide Hibernation Old Ale 2012

English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorados original strong ale — it has been Great Divides winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernations massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time. This keg was brewed in 2012, so is over two years aged.

New Belgium Frambozen

Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

Stone Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean Smoke

In 2006, almost exactly 10 years after we first released Stone Smoked Porter, Stone Small Batch Brewer Laura Ulrich had a brilliant idea: What if she added whole Madagascar vanilla beans to a small batch of the finished beer? And voilá, Stone Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean was born! It was an instant hit, as the resulting flavor combinations – rich vanilla melding with the malty, chocolatey, coffee-like characteristics of the beer-were practically made for each other.

Ommegang Game of Thrones Fire and Blood Red Ale

Ommegang and HBO® announce the newest beer in the Game of Thrones® collaboration series. Through its first three seasons, the critically acclaimed drama has become the biggest show on HBO. Named after the motto of House Targaryen, Fire and Blood is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. To celebrate the rebirth of dragons, three different labels were created by the Game of Thrones visual effects specialists, each depicting one of Daenerys feared dragons. Randomly distributed amongst the cases, each case will contain all three bottles.

Deschutes Pine Drops IPA

Like that sweet little Nordic trail off the main trail of Meissner, this beer takes the high road. Using pilsner base malt, this West Coast IPA is light on malt but not on hops. With a hop bill of Amarillo, Centennial, Northern Brewer, and experimental hop X, we packed in the pine along with the citrus notes we love.

Oskar Blues GUBNA Imperial IPA

Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with 3 malts and 1 hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesnt end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer will greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness.

Firestone Walker Pivo Pilsner

Everything we love about classic German Pilsner with a hoppy Bohemian twist. Pils is a bright straw colored lager beer with playful carbonation topped with beautiful white foam lace. Delicate lightly toasted malt flavors underscore noble German hop character. Hallertau-grown Magnum hops deliver the lupulin foundation while generous amounts of Spalter Select hops bring floral aromatic and spicy herbal notes. As a twist on the traditional Pils, we dry hop with German Saphir for a touch of bergamot zest and lemon grass. A refreshing, light-bodied and hop-driven Pils.
