Short Sale Daily Deal #6 Thursday May 31st

What’s going on?! We were able to fill up many peoples wine cellars with great wines at ridiculous prices in April as we were reducing our inventory that we will have to re-arrange soon. Apparently we didn’t go far enough, as we still have several things that we would rather see in your kitchen than move them around. We’re going below cost here people. Way below in some cases. The prices are final on these offers, no additional discounts can be taken. Place your order ONLINE ONLY for the maximum you’re willing to buy, and we’ll process them in order of the time the order comes in, and fill as much as we can.

White WineSelbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Riesling
(Mosel, Germany)

Fabulously integrated with salty and silky terroir notes. Super-clean botrytis appears at the very end of this seamlessly woven wine.

90 Points-The Wine Advocate “Evokes pungent brown spices and honey indicative of botrytis on the nose, as is a touch of bitterness. But the corresponding flavor characteristics are nicely folded into the wine’s creamy texture, while cooling fresh orchard fruit and herb elements offer counterpoint and keep pace with the lightly-honeyed glaze of botrytis in a sappy, clinging finish. This should cellar well for the better part of two decades.”

90 Points-Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar “Peach pit, cherry blossom and quince jelly dominate the bouquet. Almost creamy in texture and yet delicate, with the smoky, wet stone minerality keeping the ripe apricot fruit in elegant balance. Persistent persimmon flavor with a hint of slate make for a long finish.”

90 Points-The Wine Spectator “Apricot, citrus, spice and mineral permeate the lush texture in this soft, bright Riesling. Harmonious and graceful, with lingering apricot and nectarine notes on the finish. Drink now through 2025.”

Red Wine Aerodrome Cabernet Sauvignon
(Columbia Valley, Washington)

This wine is upfront and doesn’t play hard to get! Fresh raspberry and slightly tart cherries take center stage on the palate. A slight herbal note comes and goes showing off a hint of rosemary and bitter sweet cocoa. Truly for the Cab lover this wine is friendly with a backbone. Not “fruity” and not overly tannic. Would be great with beef and other red meats.

Well balanced and great with food, this wine shows well for the price!

Red Wine Sesti Monteleccio
(Montalcino, Italy)

Kermit Lynch imported wine is a “baby Brunello” from Montalcino, made from the Sangiovese Grosso grape just like Brunello, but not certified as such. The name of this wine is an Italian version of the Latin name “Montalcino,” meaning “hill of the holm oaks.”

The color is a light, bright, ruby red, suggestive of a youthful wine. The aroma is not assertive, though giving some herbal, earthy notes, even a hint of lavender and mint, but still very subtle and delicate. The wine on the palate, however, is smooth and rich with exceptional concentrated fruit that gives the wine a lot of power. It is intense, pleasant and welcoming, not unlike the Tuscan landscape from which it comes.

The healthy acidity of the wine makes it ideal to pair with Italian foods, though I think it would also do nicely with some Provencal dishes or even a simple grilled steak. The acidity balances the rich fullness of the fruit, leaving your palate clean with a nice lingering earthy finish.

100% Sangiovese

Red WineRenwood Petite Sirah 2009
(California)

(say: pit-eat sir-rah)

Fun and flavorful, in this vintage we blended in a bit of Tempranillo to help smooth out the rustic flavors that are found in classic Petite Sirah grapes. Aromas of blueberry, plum and a hint of orange zest. The flavors are thick and juicy with nice smooth tannins and a tart finish.

Give this jammy Petite Sirah a chance, it’s a cousin to the Syrah grape, but with more power.

Red WineRenwood Estate Amador County Barbera
(Amador County, California)

Winemakers Notes:

Amador Barbera consists of two Amador county vineyards. It is one of the perfect combinations of matching grape to region and the ability of this wine to win more medals than any other Sierra Foothill wine. It’s a classic Syrah from Washington State with a mix of wild berries, a bit of earthiness and rich spices balanced by juicy acidity and structure.

Tasting Notes:

Dark cherry red in color. The aromas are rich with strawberry and new oak. Typical of Barbera is a tangy tartness, smooth finish and lots of fresh fruit flavors. Scents of vanilla and caramel from the small oak barrel aging complement the fruit aromas and flavors. Due to a small harvest this wine has a deep red color and higher acidity with excellent aging potential and can be cellared for at least 10 years.

This wine began life as a $30 bottle of wine, and now we have just a few bottles left that we have severely discounted!

The long, graceful neck is a stunning visual sensation and the pour spout at the end is designed for drip-resistance.
