Deschutes Stamp

Dear Enotecans,

We like to host great tasting events.  This one is a very special treat.  The brewer from Deschutes Brewery, maker of Mirror Pond, Black Butte Porter, The Abyss, The Stoic,  The Dissident, and on and on will be here, at Enoteca, from 11:30-2pm on Thursday, March 1st.

We’ll have some snack bites brought over from the White House grill next door, so if you have to take your lunch break to be here, you’ll be covered.  The brewer is on tour for what they call Basecamp for Beer Fanatics.

We’re tapping a reserved keg of The Stoic, an incredible and unique cellar reserve beer from the Deschutes Beer Library just for this event.

Special Deschutes snifter glassware will be available to purchase only at this event, oh and we can put some beer in them.

Did we mention you can meet and talk with the brewer?!  Sean Garvin, brew master will be here to chat with!  This is a drop-in event, so you can come any time.  We’re asking for RSVPs online just to get an idea of who will show up, but there isn’t a hard-and-fast ticket to this event.  The RSVP form will say it’s a waiting list, yes, we’re waiting until the 1st. There is no fee to attend, but there is a fee to drink.

Deschutes BreweryWhat about beer?

It is in the middle of the day, so we understand that not everyone can stay to enjoy a full flight of fantastic Deschutes beers.  There’s no requirement to drink when you come, but will make it a possibility!  We do need to charge for the beer you drink, and some interesting options will be available.

Reserve Beer Series Tasting:

  1. The Stoic on tap.  Special growler fill and pint price during the event only.
  2. Deschutes Conflux #2 Belgian White IPA.  Ask the brewer about Conflux #1!
  3. Hop Henge Experimental IPA (vote in the IPA March Madness here.)
  4. Other beers will possibly be available, we’re working on the details so for now let’s call it a secret.
  5. Black Butte 23 in bottles.
  6. Abyss 2011 in bottles.
  7. Special Deschutes Snifter Beer Glass.

Other Beer Tasting Opportunities:

  1. Pre-order Conflux #1, collaboration beer with Hair of the Dog. (wow!)
  2. Pints of Stoic on tap at a special event price.
  3. Growler fills of Stoic on tap at a special event price.
  4. Small Deschutes glasses available.
  5. Whatever else we can think of between now and then.

Here’s what Deschutes has in their press release:

Deschutes Brewery brings its Base Camp campaign to Spokane and Northern Idaho for an amazing week of specialty beer tastings, beer and food pairings, and appearances by Woody, the giant beer barrel on wheels. Deschutes brewers, ambassadors and fanatics will be on hand to provide some in-the-trenches insight into our courageously crafted brews.

What is Base Camp you may ask? It’s a place where Deschutes Brewery offers beer fanatics a spot to “pitch a tent” of sorts – and find their footing with the cornerstone of Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Deschutes Brewery Base Camp Week is a celebration of Mirror Pond’s easy-drinking goodness, along with many more of the brewery’s passion-heavy, pioneering brews. The Deschutes Brewery team is traveling around to cities all over the west this year, providing passionate fans with a seriously fun exploration of beer.  Make the trek to Base Camp.  It all begins here…

Deschutes has several events going on in the area, and here’s what the press release says about the Enoteca event:

WHAT:     Bottles & Bites with a Brewer
One of Deschutes Brewery’s Assistant Brewmasters has left the brewhouse in Bend, Oregon and is on the road for Base Camp, a week-long celebration of craft beer. He’s ready to chat about the ins and outs of brewing great craft beer, while giving you some tasting tips as you drink such rare Reserve Series brews at The Abyss, Black Butte XXIII and The Stoic.
