Happy New Year

Dear Enotecans,

This email is about some special wine & beer offers this week in anticipation of the New Years Celebration.  You can change your email preferences by clicking the “Change Email Preferences” link above, or you can keep up to date with Facebook and Twitter if you prefer.

Before getting to the Celebration stuff, I wanted to recap the Christmas Party/Customer Appreciation Party.  Lots of people showed up, thank you all for coming down to visit!  Many people brought appetizers, and we had 3 winners of the Appetizer Competition.  Ryan L. (Bin #230) went home with a Magnum of beer for his delicious Crab Cakes.  The Magnum of Red Wine and Magnum of White Wine were also awarded, but we didn’t get the names of the winners, if that’s you, drop us a line and remind us what you brought!  Congratulations to all of you and thanks to everyone who participated!

Thank YOu

As some of you already know, during the party Russell experienced an episode and the paramedics came down.  Thank you to the Post Falls paramedic team, very fast, and very professional.  By the time they got to the store his symptoms had died down.  He spent a couple days at Sacred Heart Medical Center getting tested for all sorts of things.   The tests all came back “normal” and Russell is on the mend.  We’re continue to pray for healing.

Thank you to everyone who sprung into action and instead of getting to party, volunteered to help pour wine and clean up.  We really appreciate everything you did.  A special thanks to Roger for holding it all together when Russell & Sarah had to leave.  Thank you also to Dave & Mindy J., Russell & Melisa M., Jake S., Donna S., and I’m sure I’m missing someone on the list, you know who you are.  We’re so grateful for your help and generosity, even coming in all week before Christmas while Russell was out of commission and helping customers get what they needed for the holidays.  You really lightened the load and blessed us.  Cheers to a happy and healthy New Year for all!

On to the Celebration!

Are you ready to ring in 2012?  We have some things to help!  Of course it’s time for the bubbly to come out, whether it’s true French Champagne or American made sparkling wine.

We have the Mountain Dome Spokane made Champagne styled bubbly in the CDA Resort packaging on sale for $9.99.  This is the same juice that’s in the gnome label for $17.  Wow, what a deal!

From France we have a fantastic bottle in the Mumm’s Cordon Rouge Champagne and for a truly rare and special bottle from America, try the Argyle Winery Brut Extended Triage 2001.  Besides those great bottles, we have a decent selection of over 30 different dry sparkling wines, and another 15 that range from barely sweet to very sweet.  Get the kind of bubbly you want and be ready to bring in the new year!  There are a couple kinds of gift sets too, that come complete with Champagne glassware!  The Champagne ranges from $6 to $235 per bottle, with everything in between.  Check out the Sparklings, Moscato di Asti’s, Prosecco’s and Cava’s!

For our tasting this weekend we will be pouring the Mountain Dome!

White Wines!

Are you more of a Chardonnay drinker?  I can highly recommend the Boudreaux Chardonnay as a fantastic special occasion bottle of Chardonnay from Washington State.  It’s generously oaked, so you get the buttery richness that classical Chardonnay drinkers like, and it’s made with great acidity so you get the crisp finish and refreshing palate feel.  If you like a hint of sweetness in your white wines, try the Boudreaux Riesling.  Aromatically it’s simply bursting with flavors, white peach, floral notes, kitchen spices, and on the palate it is crisp and refreshing.  How about we open those for our tasting this weekend too?  Sounds good to me!

Red Wines!

What else should we taste?  How about going out with some Enoteca Private Label Syrah made by Coeur ‘d Alene Cellars?  We call it Speranza, which means Hope in Italian.  Let’s do a nice robust Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon from Huntington too.  It’s priced right and tastes good.  This will be fun, we’re pouring from 4-7 on Friday and from 12-closing on Saturday.

We have tons and tons of great bottles of wine for you to choose from, come on in this week and pick from over 1000 different selections, and we’re happy to help you find something just for you.

Hellhound On My AleIf you like beer we’re all set for you!  Check out the current What’s On Tap? list, our tap handles are always rotating and a growler fill of something delicious just might make the perfect way to ring in the New Year.  We just tapped the amazingly rare Dogfish Head Hellhound On My Ale Imperial IPA.  Here’s what Dogfish Head has to say:

2011 marks the 100th birthday of Mississippi Delta bluesman Robert Johnson who, according to legend, sold his soul down at the crossroads in a midnight bargain and changed music forever. Working again with our friends at Sony Legacy (yup, the same folks we did our Miles Davis-inspired Bitches Brew with), Dogfish Head pays tribute to this blues legend by gettin the hellhounds off his trail and into this finely-crafted ale.

Hellhound is a super-hoppy ale that hits 100 IBUs in the brewhouse, 10.0 ABV, 10.0 SRM in color, and dry-hopped with 100% centennial hops at a rate of 100 kilos per 100 barrel brew-length. Can you tell we at Dogfish are stoked for this mighty musical centennial? To accentuate and magnify the citrusy notes of the centennial hops (and as a shout out to Robert Johnsons mentor Blind Lemon Jefferson) we add dried lemon peel and flesh to the whirlpool.

This stuff is so good we’re serving it in half pint Tulips.

If you prefer something in a bottle, check out what’s new in stock this week.

Thank you for 2011

Finally, thank you to all of our valued customers for shopping locally in 2011.  We’ve had some growing pains, and I’m sure you’ve seen things change in the shop over the course of the year.  Our family is happy to be able to serve such an exceptional group of people from our area.  We’re committed to continue growing and changing to keep meeting your high quality beverage requirements in 2012!

Thank you from all of us at Enoteca!  Happy New Year!
