Fresh Peach Bellini’s This Weekend at the Enoteca Speakeasy

Dear Enotecans,

Are you ready to start the weekend?  We sure are!  As the summertime starts to show some grey whiskers, we’ve collected some fresh local ingredients for a fantastic Peach Bellini this weekend.  Seasonal beverages at their finest.

Sarah went over to Greenbluff the other day and harvested some beautiful local peaches for this weekends cocktails. This weekend the cocktail menu will feature A Classic Italian Bellini made with fresh peach puree and other well crafted cocktails featuring the peach harvest. We also have in this week only fresh Rhubarb for Enoteca’s very own cocktail invention The Bebop Rebop Rhubarb Pie.

Our little drinkery now has gourmet cocktails available and always stellar beers on tap and now we have added the wine list.  We still want you to be able to explore the world of wine before you find the right one to take home and now we have expanded the horizon of choices!  Check out our wine list for by the glass and flight options. We are open later Friday and Saturday and if you find yourself parched halfway through the week, come by and we will be happy to serve you!  We’ve included the current wine list at the end of this email.

What’s a Bellini?

A Bellini is a long drink cocktail that originated in Venice. It is a mixture of sparkling wine (traditionally Prosecco) and peach purée often served at celebrations. It is one of Italy’s most popular cocktails.

The Bellini was invented sometime between 1934 and 1948 by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy. Because of its unique pink color, which reminded Cipriani of the color of the toga of a saint in a painting by 15th-century Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini, he named the drink the Bellini.

The drink started as a seasonal specialty at Harry’s Bar, a favorite haunt of Ernest Hemingway, Sinclair Lewis and Orson Welles. Later, it also became popular at the bar’s New York counterpart. After an entrepreneurial Frenchman set up a business to ship fresh white peach pureé to both locations, it was a year-round favorite.

Wine Flights Any Time

In the past, our wine flights have been limited to Friday and Saturday.  Now that we have the full bar open, with bar tending staff in house from 4pm until closing time we can offer flights and wine by the glass every day.  Right now closing time is about 10 pm Thursday-Saturday, depending on if folks are showing up for the later hours.

Keep an eye on the email newsletters as we will be featuring some very special and interesting flights in the near future.  The new format gives us some flexibility to bring you more interesting and exciting beverage options.

The flight samples will be poured as 2 oz. tasting samples.  We’re starting with sample prices that approximate what our old flights used to be, but with this format you can order exactly what you want, so if you want higher end samples, you can get those, or if you want to stick to the value priced samples, you can do that too!

The wine list will change regularly, popular wines can stick around, special wines can be brought on from time to time, so stop by any time you feel like wine and we will have plenty of options for you!
