(Northern Rhone Valley, France)

This French blend comes from a team comprised of two members of well-known vintner families. It combines Syrah which provides a fruity, herbal base flavor and Viognier, which balances the blend by offering a floral softness.

I think this wine, typical of France, deserves to be aerated or decanted.  Once it has time to open up, it shows off more of it’s savory flavors.  Perfect with all sorts of food, like grilled chicken, pasta, steak, and pork.  Get it for a summer red on the patio, priced right to share with everyone!

Check out this video of Nicolas Jaboulet speaking about this bottle of wine.

Originally offered at $16 per bottle now it’s 1/2 price or even better for Club Members.

la-vielle-ferme-cotes-du-ventouxBut wait, there’s more!

While we’re at it, we just got in a few more cases of another great French wine 1/2 price deal.  We had run out but found a few straggling cases at the importer.

red-wineLa Vieille Ferme Cotes du Ventoux Rouge 2009
(Ventoux, France)

We enjoy this wine, especially when the weather warms up.  Open it up and let it decant for a little bit, it’s authentic French wine. It’s not too heavy, not too light, plenty of ripe fruit flavors, spicy notes and low tannins, so you don’t get that bite on the palate.  At this price it’s easy to open up a bottle, put some in your spaghetti sauce, and feel good about drinking the rest!

If you are a Wine Club Subscription Member and buy a case of 6 bottles, it’s only $7.64 per bottle or $45.48 plus tax.

What the Experts Say

The 2009 La Vieille Ferme Cotes du Ventoux red, which, like the white is aged totally in tank, is composed of 50% Grenache and the rest other grapes such as Carignan, Cinsault, and Syrah. It offers copious aromas of cherry fruit intermixed with peppery, spicy garrigue notes. A surprisingly flavorful, easygoing red, it provides tremendous relief to the beleaguered consumer looking for good quality at the $10 price point (750ml bottle).

~Wine Advocate

Bright ruby. Lively red fruits and spices on the nose and in the mouth. Light-bodied and a bit jammy but shows good energy and clarity. Finishes clean and brisk, with lingering bitterness and a touch of cracked pepper. This wine’s quality is most impressive.

Something Red for everyone!

Periple isn’t a French wine, but it is a French word, and we can’t help but let everyone know they need to try this wine.  It’s on our wine by the glass list, so come into Enoteca Drinkery & Refuge to try it by the glass any time, or pick up a bottle to take home.

Say: PEH REE PLAH – French for journey.

This fruit forward, mouth coating blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 25% Syrah, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon is sure to provide a great night of casual conversation whether with backyard BBQ fare or at family pasta night.

We love this wine!  It’s our new “cryptic” if you know what I mean.  This stuff is delicious!  Wine maker Angie Shaltry lives and makes wine in Eagle, Idaho, and she sources fruit from all over the place.  This bottle is all from Washington State fruit, with more than one appellation included.  Angie apprenticed to Helen Turley the superstar wine maker from California.  We’re proud to have Angie here in Idaho and proud to share this amazing bottle of wine with you.  The label is fantastic too, unfortunately I don’t have a picture to share, so come in and see it for yourself!  Instead I included a picture of the wine maker.
