A note from the owner of Grayson Cellars:
When our family started Grayson Cellars we asked our winemaker to search throughout California’s finest growing regions for the best grapes. We then made several small lots of handcrafted wines and gave each a lot number. We continue that tradition today with lot numbers for each wine.
We hope you enjoy our wines with your friends and family.
OwnerOur wines are carefully crafted by Larry Levin, who is among the most experienced winemakers in the Napa Valley. After completing his Enology degree at UC Davis, Larry spent seventeen years at Dry Creek Vineyard where over 18 vintages he produced more than 15 varietal wines. He has since covered the globe by making wine in New Zealand, Chile, and Australia across all price points and styles. For the previous nine years Larry was head of winemaking at Icon Estates where he oversaw the Franciscan, Mt. Veeder, Robert Mondavi, Estancia, Ravenswood, Quintessa and Ruffino brands. Larry also consults for wineries in the Stag’s Leap and Oakville districts in Napa and Sonoma.
The 2011 Grayson Chardonnay is brilliantly ripe and shows bright, brisk acidity and good minerality with notes of pineapple and apricot. The palate offers green apple fruit with a crisp finish showing gentle hints of apple pie and vanilla flavors.
The 2011 Grayson Merlot is sumptuous and rich with a beautiful purple garnet color. The aromas show rich complexity of black cherry preserves, currant and white chocolate. This is a magnificently decadent Merlot that finishes with soft tannins, dark fruits and elaborate oak.
The Grayson Zinfandel shows a dark color with rich mixed raspberries, strawberries and brambles surrounded by hints of spice including black pepper and bacon. Intense richness carries through on the palate of this full bodied wine with explosive blackberry and vanilla flavors. The wine’s finish is long and elegant.
