Foundry Wine tasting this weekend with Ali Mayfield, the wine maker

Foundry Wine Bottles

Dear Enotecans,

This weekend we’re pouring wines from a winery that bills itself as “a creative blend of fine wine and contemporary art.”  Above is a trio of bottle shots to give you an impression of the art side, but you need to come in on Friday or Saturday this weekend to get an impression of the fine wine side! Taste them all for $10 per flight, and consider buying a glass of your favorite afterwards.

Wine Maker Ali Mayfield will be here Friday from 4-7pm to share these wines, answer questions, and autograph bottles!

If you’re ever wondering what sort of tasting events we have coming up, check out the tasting event calendar on our website any time.

This is a drop-in tasting so just come on down and show up Friday from 4-7 and Saturday 12-7!

Haven’t been to an Enoteca tasting yet? Read what it’s like here.

White WineFoundry White on White 2010 (Supply Limited)
(Walla Walla, Washington)

The 2010 White on White is pale and clean in color. The nose exhibits crisp citrus and mineral characteristics that carry through to an energetic mouth-feel. The balanced acidity makes this wine a perfect pairing for summer seafood, fruit salads and an array of cheeses.

50% Viognier, 38% Chardonnay, 6% Semillon, 6% Grenache Blanc

Red WineFoundry Merlot 2006
(Walla Walla, Washington)

This Merlot exhibits the true nature of the fruit and the land in a single varietal. A bouquet of dark cherries, raspberries, and chocolate, with a mid-palette spice, and a smooth vanilla finish, combine to create a full wine experience. This is a hearty Merlot shows well balanced acidity and tannins which enable it to pair well with a wide range of rich meats and sauces.

100% Merlot

Red WineFoundry Fire Red 2007
(Walla Walla, Washington)
This wine is fresh off the nose with ripe fruit, cassis, pepper and hints of vanilla. The Walla Walla Valley is well represented with this blend, and while the initial sensation is a smooth and elegant mouthfeel, the well-balanced acid and tannin structure finishes boldly; leaving a memorable impression and a desire for more.

48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 8% Malbec, and 8% Cabernet Franc

Red WineFoundry Artisan Red Blend 2007
(Walla Walla, Washington)

This old-world, styled wine is nuanced with aromas of ripe red berry, cassis, and herbs with hints of vanilla. The nose on this wine is a beautiful introduction to its supple and lush mouthfeel. A refreshing acidity makes for a pleasant and well-balanced wine that is drinking beautifully now, and will continue rewarding over the year.

Red WineFoundry Artisan Red Blend 2008
(Walla Walla, Washington)

The 2008 Artisan Blend opens with a bright, fresh nose of black fruit and spice box. Notes of cassis and blackberry enhance the elegant front and mid-mouth feel which is supported by a balanced acidity, dusty tannins and spice on the back of the palate. This youthful wine pairs well now with food. It’s an age-worthy blend that will fill out and become more expressive with age, which is traditional for a young Bordeaux blend.

57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Franc
