Firestone Walker Tap Takeover with Brewer – today 6-9pm

Posted by John Eckhart Posted on Oct - 03 - 2013

Firestone WalkerDear Enotecans,

Today is a big day!

firestone-properietors-reserveThe staff at Enoteca have been working with Firestone Walker and Manito Tap House to bring you a cross-border, inter-city amazing beer event.  By teaming up and hosting two events in the same week, we’ve been able to convince Firestone Walker to send their original brew master and current Barrelworks Meister, Jeffers Richardson, and some new and exciting rare beers, including sours, stouts, and big barleywines.  We’ll even have some rare takes on easy drinking beer on tap, like a DBA that is unfiltered.

  • When: Wednesday, November 6th – 6-9pm
  • Where: Enoteca Drinkery & Refuge
  • What: Firestone Walker Tap Takeover
  • Who: Featuring Jeffers Richardson from Firestone Walker and YOU
  • Why?: Drink Firestone Walker’s Top Shelf beers and talk to the original head brewer.  Also try brand new sour on tap!
  • Q&A: Special Q&A session with Jeffers from 7:30-8:30 during the event.
  • Specials: Special Priced Tasting Flights featuring Firestone’s Top Dogs!
  • Package: Special prices on to-go products from Firestone!

If you’re a Firestone Walker fan who doesn’t know who Jeffers Richardson is, then we advise you to take note. Jeffers is one of California’s pride and joys in the craft beer world. Sip on some Firestone brews and pick his brain during a Q&A with Firestone Walker’s original brewmaster. Currently in charge of Firestone Walker’s Sour Program and the new Barrelworks in Buellton, Jeffers truly helped pioneer barrel-aging beers as well as fine-tuning recipes for such brews as Double Barrel Ale–one of Firestone Walker’s iconic brands.

Jeffers will also be at Manito Tap House on Thursday, November 7th, and Manito will be featuring some different beers than we’re featuring at Enoteca and vice versa!

firestone-walker-square-logoJeffers Q&A

The event starts at 6pm, and Jeffers and Tyson will be here until about 9pm.  During the event we will be holding a Jeffers Q&A, from 7:30-8:30.  It will be open format, bring your questions about beer, brewing, California, and barrel aging, sours, IPAs, stouts etc.  We have a comfortable, intimate atmosphere for getting to know the guy who started the Firestone Walker brewing revolution.  Yeah, that’s a big deal.

Don’t have any questions?  Come on down and drink a beer, and see if that generates a question.  For instance “How did you get this to taste so freaking yummy?”

What’s On Tap?

Check out these incredible beers being tapped:

beer Firestone Walker Parabola Russian Imperial Stout 2013
13% ABV, 82 IBUs

Cellared since April 2013.

One of our most aggressive and sought-after offerings. Bold Bourbon, tobacco and espresso aromas and a hint of American oak greet the nose. Rich, chewy roasted malts, charred oak and bourbon-like vanilla attack the palate and finish with a bang. A remarkably complex brew that offers a transcendental drinking experience – enjoy with good company.
beer Firestone Walker Sucaba Barleywine 2013
13% ABV, 42 IBUs

Cellared since February 2013.

Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

beer Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin Oatmeal Stout 2013
8.5% ABV, 33 IBUs

New Release.

Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. beer Firestone Walker Agrestic Sour Red 2013
6.2% ABV

New Release from Jeffers’ Barrelworks program.

Behold our latest creation from the Barrelworks! As the name implies, “Agrestic” is a rustic, Belgian-style red ale. Agrestic has a long lineage of oak-barrel influence: First, as DBA, it is fermented in our patented Union Barrel Fermentation system.

If that isn’t exciting enough, it is then transferred to a tank and inoculated with a proprietary lactobacillus-thus begins the Agrestic transformation. It is then racked into barrels where it is inoculated with Brettanomyces Lambicus.

This foundation of DBA with microflora is made more complex through 14 months of maturation in American and French Oak barrels (40%/60% ratio).

The result is a remarkable blend of rustic flavors and textures: barrel-derived tannins, woody, nutty(toasted almonds) malt nuances, dried tart cherry fruit, thirst quenching acidity, and a hint of vanilla and all-spice in the background. A thoroughly enjoyable Flanders Red style ale.

beer Firestone Walker Unfiltered Double Barrel Ale
5% ABV

Our flagship Double Barrel Ale 100% fermented in new American oak barrels and unfiltered. This is the beer that is blended with stainless fermented beer to make standard Double Barrel Ale.
