Australian Picks Wine Tasting this weekend
This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be sharing some delicious Aussie wines! We’ll be tasting these wines Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to beat the rush!
We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 5 wines, + 1 oz. of dessert) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass.
(Central Ranges, New South Wales)
Aromas of white peach, citrus and melon aromas overlay yeasty, creamy notes typical of cool-climate Chardonnay. The crisp citrus backbone supports ripe melon flavours in the mouth. The textured, soft mouth-feel and hint of oak add weight and length to the palate. Match with classic fish & chips and home-made tartare sauce or try with a Thai chicken salad. $10
100% Chardonnay
(Yarra Valley, Australia)
In the glass this wine is a full ruby red, with a bouquet of elegant Pinot Noir fruit with integrated oak. On the palate look for a full bodied wine with intense ripe plum flavours, texture and softness. This pairs well with roast rabbit or grilled tuna. $38
100% Pinot Noir
(South Australia)
Yalumba Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich and vibrant wine providing excellent varietal flavour and generous fruit. Medium to deep purple red in colour, it shows a combination of aromas ranging from cedar and eucalyptus, through to plums with hints of black cherry and black olive, all with a touch of leafiness. An attractively concentrated yet medium-bodied wine, the taste is robust and mouth-filling with subdued oak and a persistent cinnamon & spice finish. $11
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
(Riverina, New South Wales, Australia)
Visually this shows off vibrant purple with deep crimson hues. The bouquet announces lifted blackberry and spice aromas. On the palate look for fresh flavours of dark fruits and berry finessed with some toasty vanillin oak characters. Soft rounded tannins, great length and texture. Enjoy with duck and rabbit dishes. $9
Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon
(Barossa, Australia)
This wine is Barossa at its best–deep, bluish purple in color with a huge nose of blackberries, coffee and oak. Even though it’s thick and rich, in true Barossa tradition, the wine has flavors and smells that are clean, Very ripe at the front with a firm, tannic middle and then a long, fruit-centered finish. $15
100% Shiraz
(Riverina, New South Wales, Australia)
de Bortoli Black Noble De Bortoli Wines has an extensive collection of aged wine stocks maturing in barrel. The winemakers draw from these barrels to blend our premium fortified wines including the unique Black Noble. These wines are attractively presented in gift cylinder or gift box.
A very individual looking, fairly pale caramel coloured wine. A big woody nose. A surprisingly rich and unctuous texture in view of the appearance, with freshly brewed tea, Kahlua, liquorice, coffee, caramel and wood. Unlike anything else! Can be reminiscent of Madeira and some tawny ports, or even Hungarian Tokai. Has a dry crispness, even though it’s definitely a dessert wine by sugar specs. 375ml $36
100% Sémillon
Remember the Orphan Shelf – 20% Off Yummy Wine & Beer
What is the Orphan Shelf? It’s our fun way of closing out wine & beer to make way for the new stuff.
It’s located right at the checkout counter, and we offer a 20% discount on these products to
our Wine & Beer of the Month Club Members.
Why are products orphaned? Well, basically they are forgotten. Selling great one week and yesterdays news the next. Forgotten greats that need a home. Junebe the label isn’t show stopping or it’s from an area people are not familiar with so it just sits quietly, patently waiting to be adopted. Open your heat and mind these are really great wines!
The orphan shelf has had some recent admittants. Several bottles of wine were discovered that have been waiting for a home, and some beer has even migrated to the orphan shelf. Club members receive a 20% discount whenever they adopt an orphan. Find it in your heart.
A wide range of very delicious bottles are currently up for adoption. Come peer into the glassed-over eyeballs of these little fellas and see if one of them doesn’t tug at your heart. Pleeeze sir, can I have some more?
