Today I had the pleasure of trying Castello di Monaci Primativo . I’m excited to offer this wine as a lovely addition to the changing season. I’m having it with pork chops with roasted apples and golden potatoes with rosemary. I love Autumn for this reason!
Located at the gates of Salice Salentino a town located in the heel of the boot of Italy. This wine is made up of Primativo Salento (that’s red Zinfandel to us).
With notes of ripe boysenberry and raspberry, spice and toasty vanilla it isn’t your typical mean and lean Chianti style or terroir driven funky Italian wine.
A firm robust wine it has good structure but not overly tannic. This wine pairs well with food but still lush and delightful on it’s own. Another reason I’m excited to share this wine with you is the fact that it tastes way better than the price tag! Not that I’ve tasted many price tags…
Here’s the deal, there are less than 3 cases of this available at all. I wanted to let you know about it before it was gone, but just be warned, it’s not going to be here long.
