Brewers Dinner: Wallace Brewery – Really?

Dear Enotecans,

This is an email I never thought I’d be writing.  Yes, we’re working with Dave Rohde at the CDA Casino and The Gathering Place restaurant to bring a brewers dinner with Wallace Brewing.  If you’ve tasted Wallace beers on tap or the Vindicator IPA in the bottle over the last couple years you’re probably wondering why in tarnation are we doing this.  It’s no secret that Wallace has struggled in the quality department for the first couple years of its existence, but there’s a new sheriff in town and things have changed.

Jack Johnson.  Around October of 2011, Wallace Brewing brought in a new head brewer, Jack Johnson, to turn things around.  He’s worked at a couple of breweries prior to Wallace, the most notable being Left Hand Brewing out of Colorado.  We’ve been in touch with the brewery since he came to town and have been sampling the work he has been doing.  The first two that I tried made by Jack were a light lager style, and a seasonal winter ale.  Both beers…  tasted…  good!  These first two beers were only in keg form and we don’t typically put lighter beers on tap, so we really didn’t have a place for them yet, but they were good solid beers for their styles.

Thank God for Jack Johnson.

By now Jack has had an opportunity to retool the entire line up of Wallace beers and fix them.  If you’re like me, you’ve been pulling for Wallace as a local brewery since they started, but have to taste good beer to get behind ’em.  This Brewer’s Dinner is a good way to try anew what Wallace is putting out now in a great setting with fantastic food paired with the beers.

The dinner is Saturday, March 10th at 6pm at The Gathering Place at the CDA Casino.   This 6 course meal complete with beer, food, gratuity, tax, and valet parking is only $40 per person.  You can register your tickets here, pay by CC online or come in with check or cash.
