Dear Enotecans,

UPDATE: What a great opportunity! We are able to keep running the special Beer & Cocktail menu until the kegs run dry. We saw how everyone who came on Thursday had such a great experience, and since we still have some of the Gentlemen’s Club beers on tap, decided there’s no reason we can’t continue to offer this special menu. Come on down soon, it won’t last forever!

ALSO: We were able to secure more special Widmer balloon style glasses, so when you order from this menu you get one to keep free until we run out! Click here to see the special menu. [PDF]

cigar-city-brewing-logoHave you heard of Cigar City Brewing yet?  If you’ve been to some of the Enoteca Drinkery & Refuge beer sharing parties, you may have tried the Florida brewery’s world famous white whale beers such as Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout, Jai Alai IPA or Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout.  These guys are top notch and highly sought after, and the closest they send beer to us is Alabama!

That’s why we’re excited about this incredible unique opportunity.  Cigar City teamed up with the northwest’s own Widmer brewery to make an incredibly unique and special beer.  The beer is designed after an “Old Fashioned” cocktail.  They then aged this beer 3 different ways: Bourbon Barrels, Rye Whiskey Barrels, and on New Oak Spirals.

The result is called “Gentlemen’s Club” and features three unique beers.

We scored some pre-release bottles and our expert mixologists at Enoteca Drinkery & Refuge made 10 different variations on the Old Fashioned Cocktail.  We put together a tasting panel and found some incredible pairing combinations.  For this event we are featuring a very special menu that includes all three Gentlemen’s Club variations on tap paired with individual Old Fashioned cocktails, and a flight of Gentlemen’s Club paired with an Old Fashioned.

Special Beer/Cocktail Event

On September 5th, from 5-8pm Enoteca Drinkery & Refuge is holding a very special event featuring all 3 beers on tap.

Widmer BrothersWe’re creating a special Beer/Cocktail Experience Flight.  Since the Gentlemen’s Club beers are based on the Old Fashioned cocktail, we are serving a flight that includes all three beers + a hand crafted Old Fashioned.

  • Day: Thursday, September 5th
  • Time: Starting at 5pm
  • Place: Enoteca Drinkery & Refuge, Post Falls
  • What: Widmer Keg & Cocktail Party

For the special event, Jeremy Figy of Widmer Brothers will be on hand to discuss this unique and interesting beer, and give away special Widmer door prizes.

We recommend bringing a Designated Driver, remember DD’s drink free NA at Enoteca!

Light snacks will be available, but as always we are a food friendly establishment, so feel free to bring in food, including ordering from any of the 5 neighboring restaurants!

Interested in bottles of Gentlemen’s Club?  We’re expecting to receive a limited bottle release this week, keep an eye on our New Beers In Stock page, they’ll post as soon as they come in!

Special Event Menu

This is a tasters experience.  Four unique ways to choose from to experience this beer and cocktail pairing.  Of course you can order each beer by the glass, and you can order any Old Fashioned variation separately.  We’ve designed a very special pairing menu just for this event.

Beer & Cocktail Flight: All three Gentlemen’s Club variants + an Elijah Craig and Lemon Old Fashioned.

Gentlemen’s Club Rye:  Paired with a Bulleit Rye Old Fashioned.

Gentlemen’s Club Bourbon: Paired with a very traditional Old Fashioned featuring Buffalo Trace bourbon.

Gentlemen’s Club New Oak: Paired with our Menu Old Fashioned featuring Buffalo Trace bourbon.

About the Gentlemen’s Club Beer

Drawing inspiration from an Old Fashioned cocktail recipe and the Gentlemen’s Clubs where the cocktail was first served over 100 years ago, this collaboration beer brings together two breweries from opposite ends of the country and ingredients from the home states of both breweries. Using an Old Ale recipe as the base beer, Gentlemen’s Club “Old Fashioned Style Ale” was brewed with cherries and oranges, Alchemy, Sorachi Ace and Pacifica hops, and hand-selected specialty malts to mirror the qualities typically found in an Old Fashioned cocktail. The beer was aged on three different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, resulting in three unique versions of the beer, each offering a slightly different take on the same age-old recipe.
