bale-breaker-pint-glassDear Enotecans,

Reminder: Wednesday June 19th: Beer Wars: Tripel Threat.  Under card battle added: Pale Ale Melee.

Thursday June 27th Enoteca Drinkery & Refuge is hosting Kevin Quinn, Coeur d’ Alene native, for a Bale Breaker Pint Night!  Bale Breaker is a new fantastic brewery out of Yakima that is brewing hop forward beers using new and experimental hop varieties.  These beers are the real deal, a truly unique and special offering in the burgeoning craft beer scene.  The style isn’t “over-the-top bitterness” for hops, it’s about getting the flavor of the hops to come through.  I think these balanced and tasty beers are top of the line.

We will be tapping kegs of both of the beers made by Bale Breaker at this time, and a 3rd keg of a very special beer made to raise money for ALS.  Package will be for sale if we can get it here!

top-cutter-canTop Cutter IPA

India Pale Ale – 6.8% ABV | 70 IBU

Our flagship IPA is a well-balanced yet aggressive West Coast IPA that showcases Yakima Valley hops at their finest. Late additions of Simcoe®, Citra®, Ahtanum™, and Mosaic® give this beer its complex citrus, fruity, and floral aroma and flavor. Named for a unique piece of farm equipment that removes hop vines from the trellis during the annual hop harvest, Topcutter IPA delivers loads of hoppiness all year long.

field-41-canField 41 Pale Ale

American Pale Ale – 4.5% ABV | 38 IBU

Don’t be fooled by the powerful hop aroma of Field 41 Pale Ale. This perfectly sessionable, but generously dry-hopped, Pale Ale drinks easy with a smooth bitterness and is named for the hop field that is home to Bale Breaker Brewing Company. Light and refreshing, it’s the perfect beer for a day on the river or afternoon on the slopes.

ales-for-alsAles for ALS: Bubba’s Brew

Loftus Ranches and Hopunion would like to invite you to join us in support of a great cause. A special blend of experimental hops designed by Russian River’s Vinnie Cilurzo and John Mallett of Bell’s Brewery will be provided free of charge to brewers. In return, we ask that a minimum of $1 per pint brewed with the special blend be donated to ALS research through ALS TDI.

What is ALS? (AKA: Lou Gehrig’s Disease)

  • ALS is a progressive disorder that slowly robs a person of their ability to talk, eat or move on their own.
  • There are no effective treatments or cures for ALS.
  • On average, a person survives 2-5 years from diagnosis.
  • Every 90 minutes, someone new is diagnosed with ALS.
  • Worldwide, there are 500,000 ALS patients waiting for a treatment

Kevin Quinn’s Bio

I was born and raised in CDA and graduated from Lake City in 2000.  I went to UW in Seattle for college.  I moved back to CDA in late 2006 and my wife Meghann and I lived in CDA until March of 2012 when we moved to Yakima (Meghann’s hometown) to pursue building Bale Breaker Brewing Co. full time.  We decided to build the brewery here in Yakima/Moxee because Meghann’s family has been growing hops here since 1932.  Her great grandparents planted 5 acres of hops in 1932 and the farm has harvested hops every year since.  We built the brewery in field 41 of the hop farm.  Our brewery is actually surrounded on three sides by hops.
