Can’t Buy Me Love? Valentines Romance available at Enoteca

Gentlemen, start your preparations!

We’ve made it easy to find the perfect finishing touches to your Valentine plans with copiuos displays of love-themed wine. For example, Terra Valentine Cabernet, sure to please the serious wine afficionado, and Primo Amore Romeo and Primo Amore Juliet – red and white bubbly, slightly sweet wines anyone can enjoy. Some great choices can be found from Il Cuore, which means “The Heart” in Italian, and don’t forget dessert with Trentadue Amore Chocolate port, or stir something up with Rosenblum’s ‘Desire’ Chocolate port, or Alexander Valley’s “Temptation” Zinfandel.

Beer is near and dear to my heart

Check out these beer selections to make anyone’s heart flutter. Southern Tier Choklat – it’s like a Hershey’s bar in a beer, Lindeman’s Framboise – raspberry beer that goes great on its own, or blended with one of several Chocolate beers, Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock – tasting more chocolatey now than ever, and more…

Start V-day Weekend with wine tasting? Don’t mind if I do…

We’re putting together a little something special for wine tasting on V-day weekend, so read on for more info.

May love be like good wine, grow stronger as it grows older.

Valentines Day Sweethearts Wine Tasting this weekend

Chocolate Covered Strawberry
Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!

This Friday from 12-7 Enoteca will be sharing a selection of Sweetheart wines, including some off-dry, dessert, and good dry reds. We’ll be tasting these wines Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to beat the rush!

We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 4 wines, 1 oz. of port) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass.

Sarah: Happy Valentines day folks!

OK, you either love the 14th or you hate it but any excuse to drink wine eat chocolate is good with me! Well, we are covering the basics with amazing wine and chocolate covered strawberries. The line up covers sweet wines for your sweet hearts and then some serious reds for the palate the “just doesn’t do sweet wine”. I’m even going to be serving little heart shaped cheese nibbles! It’s probably more fun arriving early to see me stamp a hundred cheese hearts out, and they are so cute. Bring a date or bring yourself and a smile we will be happy to see you regardless!

White Wine Primo Amore Juliet
(Italy)

This wine is a light straw yellow with greenish hues. The bouquet is pleasantly fruity, fresh, aromatic and persistent. The palate is delicate and well balanced in both its sugar and acid components, with a clean aftertaste.

The low alcohol content (7.5% ABV) and the pleasent effervescence make it a superb aperitif and an ideal match to light dishes and snacks. Also delicious just on its own, as a refreshing accompaniment to conversation among friends.

70% Garganega and 30% Moscato

Red Wine Primo Amore Romeo
(Italy)

This wine is ruby red with purple reflections. The bouquet is fruity and floral with nuances of roses and underbrush and small red fruit. A semi-sweet and very pleasent wine with a distinctive raspberry taste.

This is a light and very versatile wine: superb as an aperitif and party wine or during any part of the meal especially with Italian cold meats, quiche or with pizza.

80% Merlot and 20% Malvasia Rossa

Port Trentadue Chocolate Amore Chocolate Port
(Alexander Valley, California)

Here’s what Trentadue says:
We produce this opulent dessert wine from Merlot grapes grown on our Geyserville Ranch. Borrowing from the traditions of port making, we add neutral grape spirits to stop fermentation trapping a percentage of sugar in the wine. Once Chocolate Amore is finished aging and is ready for bottling, we infuse a tiny amount of natural chocolate extract to the final blend, creating the perfect marriage of food and wine. This Merlot-based, port-styled chocolate flavored dessert wine is great over vanilla ice cream or as a stand-alone dessert.

Merlot Port with natural chocolate essence

You can’t go wrong with this sweet treat for your sweetie! It’s lush, chocolatey, silkey smooth, and presented in amorous packaging! Take one home for fun with this and a creme brulee or vanilla ice cream to pour it over.

Red Wine Podere Ciona Le Diacce Merlot 2004
(Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy)

Grown at high altitiude in Chianti Classico (approximately 1500 feet above sea level), this Merlot from Podere Ciona is remarkably clear in style and tension, with stinging, bright red fruits, subtle smoky notes, and a firm-bodied lushness that befits exceptional Merlot. From young vines, the fruits are very fresh, and goes perfectly with red and white meats.

95% Merlot, 5% Alicante Bouschet

Try this 300 case production wine, a Merlot produced in Tuscany. Some of my favorite wines on the planet are SuperTuscans rooted in a backbone of Merlot, and this is a great example of that style for an affordable price. The Alicante is a red skinned and red fruit grape that squeezes out red juice. It adds a measure of body and richness to this wine.

Red Wine Nicholas Cole Camille 2003
(Washington)

Here’s what Wine& Spirits said when they gave it 93 Points:
This blend has great Washington pedigree: the fruit (cabernet sauvignon blended with merlot and cabernet franc) is sourced from Klipsun, Champoux and Seven Hills vineyards. Its heady humus scent barely suggests its bluehued, black currant fruit, but its flavors are sumptuous, warm and toasty, with earth and cedar spice notes shaping a rich core of black raspberry fruit. Give it time in the bottle; then serve with long-braised lamb shanks.
Here’s what The Wine Advocate said when he gave it 90 Points:
The 2003 Camille is a product of a very hot vintage. Composed of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc, it is a dark ruby/purple-colored. It offers an attractive array of toast, fresh herbs, tobacco, black currants and blackberry. This is followed by an intensely flavored wine with light tannins and a supple texture. The wine is slightly compressed in the finish but there is enough structure for the wine to evolve and fill out over the next 3-5 years. It should drink well through 2030.
93 Points Wine & Spirits, 91 Points Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points Wine Advocate

47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc

Big, rich, and opulent. The last bottle we opened had such a lot of “stuffing” in it it collected on the cork. It’s ok, just chew through it and enjoy this cocktail style quaffer! This is coming in at a significant price savings as well, normally in the $50 range, we have more available for $35.

Remember the Orphans – 20% Off Tasty Wine

Orphan Annie What is the Orphan Shelf? It’s our fun way of closing out wine & beer to make way for the new stuff. It’s located right at the checkout counter, and we offer a 20% discount on these products to our Wine & Beer of the Month Club Members.

Why are products orphaned? Well, basically they are forgotten. Selling great one week and yesterdays news the next. Forgotten greats that need a home. Maybe the label isn’t show stopping or it’s from an area people are not familiar with so it just sits quietly, patently waiting to be adopted. Open your heat and mind these are really great wines!

The orphan shelf has had some recent admittants. Several bottles of wine were discovered that have been waiting for a home, and some beer has even migrated to the orphan shelf. Club members receive a 20% discount whenever they adopt an orphan. Find it in your heart.

A wide range of very delicious bottles are currently up for adoption. Come peer into the glassed-over eyeballs of these little fellas and see if one of them doesn’t tug at your heart. Pleeeze sir, can I have some more?

This week only, orphans are 30% off! Come see for yourself!

Enoteca Fun Tasting Events Calendar

Mark your calendars for tastings at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer. Some are classroom format, which means we all sit down at the same time and can interact with the presenter with questions and whatnot. Our Friday & Saturday wine tastings are drop-in format, which means you can stop in any time during the tasting hours and try some excellent wine. We price our tastings to just break even on the quantity we pour for you, and our pours are quite a bit more than a typical winery tasting room experience. Join us for these excellent tasting events!

Red Wine Riedel Stemware Wine Tasting Event
Wednesday, February 17th – 7 pm [$40 flight, classroom]

Riedel
Does the glass you’re drinking from really matter? We believe it does, and that’s why we only use genuine Riedel stemware at Enoteca tasting events. Ever have a wine that tasted great in the restaurant or tasting room, but seemed to fall flat at home? Inappropriate stemware is the most likely culprit.

This event will be unlike any other we have held. The ticket price will include a personal set of your own stemware, each designed for a different type of wine. At this event we will demonstrate by tasting the quality of the beverage experience in each type of glass.

An expert in stemware from Riedel will be on hand to share the story of how these were developed, and to educate on proper stemware use. This promises to be a fun and rewarding experience!

Tasting will include such excellent wines as: Robert Hall Cabernet Sauvignon, Rombauer Chardonnay, Groth Sauvignon Blanc, and Chehalem 3 Vineyard Pinot Noir!

Currently only 6 seats available!

$40 per person, take home the stemware! Reserve your tickets early.

Beer Old Schoohouse Beer Tasting with Ruud Family-Brewers
Thursday, February 18th – 5 & 7 pm [$10 flight, classroom]

The Ruud family took over the Winthrop Brewery and turned it into the Old Schoolhouse Brewery. They turned it around and are making some excellent quaffers. Come meet the beer making family and try these new crafts. After tasting a bunch of beers, you get to take home a glass from the brewery. We’ll be holding 2 tastings, one at 5 and one at 7 pm. $10 per person, reserve your tickets early! (be sure to specify 5 or 7 pm)

Beer Full Sail Beer Tasting with Joe Neese
Thursday, March 25th – 5 & 7 pm [$10 flight, classroom]

Full Sail of Hood River makes a fantastic set of Reserve Line beers and we’ve been stashing some here and there to fill out a great tasting lineup. Joe is excited to hold his 2nd tasting at Enoteca, and this will be one fun event! After tasting a bunch of beers, you get to take home a glass from the brewery.
