Some cool and very limited wines showed up this week, come by and get your very own Justin Orphan [Member: $17.09 / Retail: $18.99] or Seghesio Barbera [Member: $23.39 / Retail: $25.99] which each only have 24 bottles in the store. You can email us with an order too, I just hope I can get a few bottles of each in my own cellar before they’re gone!
I tasted this crazy dark intense heavy beer last week, and it’s called Harvey & Son Albert Le Coq Imperial Extra Double Stout. [Member: $6.29 / Retail: $6.99] It’s for the “stout” of heart, really the Extra Double Stout of heart. The vintage is 2003 and it’s aged quite nicely.
For Father’s Day my father and son and I made it to a Mariner’s game, saw Ken Griffy Jr. pop a fly to right field for an out, and Ichiro run faster than possible. Home team won, but it was a nail biter! While we were there I had some Pliny the Elder on tap at the Tap House Grill, come on by Enoteca for one of the very few remaining bottles here.
The results of the Z Best of Spokane are in, and Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer came out on top of the Wine Shop category! Thank you for taking the time to vote for us, it made Sarah cry to read the comments and see the support for the vision we are building in Post Falls. We’re constantly working on improving the Enoteca experience, if you haven’t been in recently for an event or to browse, you’re invited to come on by, and we’d love to share a taste of wine with you!

California and Friends Wine Tasting This Weekend
Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!
This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting Debbie Keller of IWM as she shares some new Clif Bar wines, made by the family that creates the fitness snack, and some additional excellent, premium wines to try for summer. We’ll be tasting these wines Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to come beat the rush!
We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 4 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass.
(San Rafael, Mendoza)
A vivacious and sensual wine, exhibiting aromas of fresh flowers and fruit, crisp, yet soft in the finish. The fruit is hand picked followed by crushing, cooling of crushed grapes, and pressing. Fermentation begins by inoculating with selected yeasts. Halfway through the fermentation process, the wine is centrifuged (spun) to halt fermentation, creating a slightly sweet, semi-sparkling wine.
Open up a bottle of summer! Now that the weather has finally gotten the message, it’s time to chill down this frisky fantastic wine and enjoy it’s crisp refreshing goodness complete with frizzante!
50% Sauvignon Blanc, 50% Malvasia
[Member: $9.89 / Retail: $10.99]
(California)
Delightful aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit and honeysuckle lead to layers of citrus, nectarine and peach flavors. The result is a full flavored, crisp wine with good balance and acidity and a lingering finish.
81% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Pinot Blanc, 4% Chenin Blanc, 3% Muscat
[Member: $11.69 / Retail: $12.99]
(California)
Dark ruby in color with rich, ripe berry and dark cherry aromas that lead to complex and balanced flavors of raspberry, spice, cedar and creamy vanilla. The finish is long and soft.
42% Zinfandel, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petite Sirah, 9% Syrah, 7% Merlot
[Member: $14.39 / Retail: $15.99]

“California’s Best of the Best” Pinot Noir–Quarterly Review of Wines Magazine, Summer 2007
92 Points–Wine News Magazine
This third generation flagship label has surpassed its two predecessors–both of which received the same honor in QRW’s Annual “California’s Best of the Best” invitation-only blind tasting– proving that J Jacaman’s expertise is only getting better with each vintage.
This is one of my all time favorite wines, but it requires patience and coaxing to get all the goodies to come forward. Typically I plan to decant this for about 6 hours prior to really drinking it, but using a Vinturi Wine Aerator will help as well.
Once it opens up, notes of vanilla, cedar, blackberry fruit and more! It’s incredibly deep and complex, look for it to change over time in the glass as well.
100% Pinot Noir
[Member: $38.69 / Retail: $42.99]
(California)
Gaining experience and contacts in the Northern California Zinfandel growing community through the success of his Prisoner label, Orin Swift Cellars owner/winemaker Dave Phinney has gained access to some of the best Zinfandel vineyards in California. Dave recently decided he wanted to make a high quality Zinfandel and what he created did not fit the constraints of a single AVA.
The term “saldo” has many different meanings in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. In Spanish it mainly refers to “balance on hand”, and sometimes it can mean “from here and there”. This wine represents the best of the best lots made by Dave from vineyards all across Northern California.
Here’s where it comes from: 54% Sonoma, 16% Napa, 15% Mendocino, 9% Amador, 6% Contra Costa
The 2007 Saldo has a deep dark ruby color. It has aromas of red raspberry, ribena, campfire, toast and sweet vanilla. On the palette there is wild strawberry, rhubarb, and sassafras. The wine is expansive with a 30 plus second finish. There is an impression of cherry pie on the end. Drink now and enjoy over the next five years.
Wow, what a heavy hitter! We tasted this recently and just HAD to share it with the wine club. Those who remember The Prisoner will not be suprised by how fantastic this wine is. Dave Finney has done it again with this limited production gem. Take this home and drink it soon and get your follow up orders in ASAP as this will not be available for long!
85% Zinfandel, 10% Syrah, 5% Petite Syrah
