Reininger Wine Tasting This Weekend

Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!

This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be sharing a selection of wine from Reininger winery.

We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 4 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a good time to beat the rush.

White Wine Helix Aspersa 2005
(Columbia Valley, Washington)

Spicy floral notes ride on a cool tropical breeze of guava and a whiff of banana before plunging you into a refreshing dip of the same, swirling with lemon drop, and pear with a splash of lingering butterscotch. This is a versatile, dry, sumptuous, medium bodied wine with, refreshing acidity that reminds you when you slow down (think snail) “it’s great to be alive”!

60% Viognier, 40% Chardonnay

[Member: $17.09 / Retail: $18.99]

Rosé Wine Helix Pomatia Red 2004
(Columbia Valley, Washington)

“Baby, somebody better call God because he’s missing an angel. This bomb-shell of a wine will send you reeling with it’s toasted cedar backbone and hearty cherry marmalade. With intensely flirtatious flavors of worcestershire and soy sauce, I wouldn’t get caught alone with this voluptous wine.”
- Chuck Reininger, Winemaker

90 points Wine Spectator

45% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc

750 ml bottle – [Member: $19.79 / Retail: $21.99]
375 ml bottle – [Member: $11.69 / Retail: $12.99]

Red Wine Reininger Merlot 2002
(Walla Walla, Washington)

Cherry and rose with fresh sage root pulled from the earth play in the glass. Black currant, milk chocolate powder, butterscotch and barely a hint of pulverized, dusty pepper float across the palate accompanied by very fine tannins. 90 points Wine Spectator and Enthusiast

95% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon

A bottle of Reininger Merlot was the highlight of a summer evening in 2006 when we drove to Hauser Lake and watched a lightning storm take over the mountains while sipping this soft but powerful treasure.

[Member: $29.69 / Retail: $32.99]

Red Wine Reininger Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
(Walla Walla, Washington)

Sultry cassis, rose perfume, gentle molasses, secure tannins…secure wine. 91 points Wine Spectator, 90 points The Wine Advocate

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc

[Member: $32.39 / Retail: $35.99]

Pricing disclaimer.

Red Wine Tuesday June 9th, 2008 at 6:30, Enoteca – Fine Wine and Beer will be holding a French wine dinner in partnership with Fleur de Sel and Kermit Lynch Wine Importers. Lyle Railsback will be on hand to host and present these wines, and Laurent Zirotti will be presenting the culinary delights. This promises to be a fun and delicious evening of French food and French wine!

5 courses – 5 French wines – only $65 per person all inclusive!

Make a date of it! The restaurant seats 35, so that is the maximum number of people we can book, so make your booking early. As of last Friday, there are about 10 seats left, so if you’re still on the fence, time to decide! To make reservations, call Fleur de Sel at 208-777-7600.

The first time I heard of the Kermit Lynch portfolio was from Wine Club Member Bob Carmichael (Bin #103). When I got to meet someone from the importer, I was thrilled, and he was gracious enough to pour several of the French wines for me. Four of them are now on the shelf at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer, including a fantastic Beaujolais Villages, a reasonably priced Bordeaux, a dry and yummy spring time Rosé, and an Alsacian White.

It turns out that Laurent Zirotti of Fleur de Sel has been a fan of the Kermit Lynch portfolio since he had access to them in Billings. Put 1 and 1 and 1 together and PRESTO, we will be holding a fun, educational, and most of all TASTY wine dinner on June 9th!

Remember the Orphans

Orphan Annie The orphan shelf has had some recent admittants. Several bottles of wine were discovered that have been waiting for a home, and some beer has even migrated to the orphan shelf. Club members receive a 20% discount whenever they adopt an orphan. Find it in your heart.

A wide range of very delicious bottles are currently up for adoption. Come peer into the glassed-over eyeballs of these little fellas and see if one of them doesn’t tug at your heart. Pleeeze sir, can I have some more?
