A Note from Russell
This week’s wine tasting features a wine maker who is quite tall. Cameron Fries (say freeze) will
be here to pour his fun line of easy-on-the-pocketbook wines from his family winery in
Quincy, Washington.
Stop by any time for a free tasting sample of wine. I always have something open, even at 11 am on Thursday morning. It’s what I do!
KREM’s ZBest of Spokane is soliciting votes for your favorite businesses in the area. Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer is currently pulling second place, so if you like what we’re doing, help do something about it!
If you’re a social networking fan, check out the Facebook group called Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer is my favorite beverage destination! . Post a message, say hi, review a bottle of wine or beer.

White Heron Wine Tasting This Weekend
with wine maker Cameron Fries
Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!
This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting wine maker Cameron Fries (say freeze) as he shares all of the unique Washington state wines that he makes.
Buy a bottle at the event and Cameron can autograph it!
We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 5 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a good time to beat the rush.
(Royal Slope, Washington)
This wine is rich and full-bodied yet balanced by good acidity. The use of neutral fermenting vessels ensured that this is a fruit forward wine with notes of tropical fruit and apricots on the nose. It will improve with age but makes an excellent drinking wine now. Serve as a before dinner wine or with pasta, poultry and lighter foods.
[Member: $10.79 / Retail: $11.99]
(Mariposa Estate Vineyard, Washington)
This wine is full bodied and rich with complex flavors. The bouquet has various scents of tropical fruits, rose petals, freshly mown grass and mineral components. The taste is big with light hints of bitter tannin in the aftertaste. Serve this wine with lighter pasta dishes, strongly spiced cuisine (Mexican, Asian, curry) and other places red wine isn’t quite right but a big wine is wanted. It will fit the bill.
[Member: $13.49 / Retail: $14.99]
(Mariposa Estate Vineyard, Washington)
The Pinot Noir from the Mariposa Vineyard has consistently given shown intense fruit, and nice tannic structure. Even though the wine is very drinkable now it holds up well when left open, which means it will age well. This wine consistently surprises us; the winery cannot explain how a warm site such as theirs can make such a pleasant wine. It has been so consistent however that we have doubled the planting on the same hillside.
This Pinot Noir from Washington is a suprise! In the glass it’s light color leaves some skeptical eyes, like mine the first time I saw it. But once it’s in your mouth you’ll be a believer, it has it all going on.
[Member: $12.59 / Retail: $13.99]
(Mariposa Estate Vineyard, Washington)
The blend consists of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Malbec. The wine maker’s goal is to create wines of complex flavors and with this wine they have succeeded. Bright fruit, tobacco, mocha and spice flavors combine with soft tannins in a harmonious whole that is drinkable now but will age for at least ten years.
[Member: $13.49 / Retail: $14.99]
(Mariposa Estate Vineyard, Washington)
This wine is dark colored, combines fruit and spice on the nose and is rich and full flavored on the palate. Enjoy with hearty foods and good friends.

The first time I heard of the Kermit Lynch portfolio was from Wine Club Member Bob Carmichael
(Bin #103). When I got to meet someone from the importer, I was thrilled, and he was gracious enough
to pour several of the French wines for me. Four of them are now on the shelf at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer,
including a fantastic Beaujolais Villages, a reasonably priced Bordeaux, a dry and yummy
spring time Rosé, and an Alsacian White.
It turns out that Laurent Zirotti of Fleur de Sel has been a fan of the Kermit Lynch portfolio since he had access to them in Billings. Put 1 and 1 and 1 together and PRESTO, we will be holding a fun, educational, and most of all TASTY wine dinner on June 9th! Futher details will be forthcoming in this newsletter, but save the date, and call to get your reservations early! To make reservations, call Fleur de Sel at 208-777-7600.
