Matthew Erlandson Wine Tasting This Weekend
Winemaker of Balboa, Beresan, and Third Leaf Winery

Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!

This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting Matthew Erlandson. We’ll be pouring a spectacular line up of Balboa and Third Leaf wines that Matthew makes.

Buy a bottle at the event and Matthew can autograph it!

We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 5 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a good time to beat the rush.

Red Wine Balboa Merlot 2006
(Columbia Valley, Washington)

This wine showcases the beautiful balance of tannins and acidity in the classic Mirage Vineyard Merlot. Palate shows leather and anise with pomegranate, tea, and pie cherries.

This vintage is sold out, only 3 cases are still in the pipeline. Come taste it to see if you need to get some before it’s all gone!

[Member: $17.99 / Retail: $19.99]

Red Wine Balboa Syrah
(Columbia Valley, Washington)

Mirage Vineyard once again at it’s best. Sharp cherries on the nose with beautiful rosemary and earthy herb finish on the palette we believe this wines showcases the best of Washington Syrahs.

[Member: $17.99 / Retail: $19.99]

Red Wine Balboa Reserve
(Columbia Valley, Washington)

This Syrah/Merlot blend is a mysterious offering, we don’t have much info on it. Matthew says it tastes good, so come on out and give it a try, see if you agree!

[Member: $26.99 / Retail: $29.99]

Red Wine Third Leaf Sayulita
(Washington)

We tried this a few months back and it’s intense, powerful, and huge. Think K The Creator, or Justin Savant big, bold, and beautiful. This wine is hard to say, but not as hard to drink. Give it some decanter time, or lay it down for a while, as it just has so much strength brimming beneath the surface.

58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Syrah

[Member: $33.29 / Retail: $36.99]

$5 Thursday Wine Tasting
Cono Sur Chileans with Dustin Lewis

Come to Enoteca Thursday, April 9th, at 7 p.m. for a 1/2 price tasting event! Dustin Lewis will be on hand to share a great line up of affordable and luxury wines from Chilean producer Cono Sur.

Dustin will be fresh off his trip to Chile and Argentina, which will include a visit to the Cono Sur winery. I’m sure he’ll have some stories to share from the winery!

Here’s what the winery says about itself:
Cono Sur Vineyards & Winery was founded in 1993, with the vision of producing premium, expressive and innovative wines conveying the spirit of the New World. Our name refers to the company’s geographic position; it represents wines proudly made in South America’s Southern Cone, on whose western edge lies Chile and its gifted wine valleys. Our logo also evokes a freehand drawing of the silhouette of South America.

Our quest is to present the world with the finest grape expression and character, from Chile’s varied wine regions. Right from the start Cono Sur applied the newest ideas and technology to winemaking’s traditional methods. Our main goal, therefore, is to create expressive and innovative wines from one of the world’s southernmost wine regions.

French Wine Dinner

Only $65 / person
Includes meal, wine tasting,
tax,and gratuity

Red Wine Tuesday June 9th, 2008 at 6:30, Enoteca – Fine Wine and Beer will be holding a French wine dinner in partnership with Fleur de Sel and Kermit Lynch Wine Importers. This promises to be a fun and delicious evening of French food and French wine!

Make a date of it! The restaurant seats 35, so that is the maximum number of people we can book, so make your booking early. To make reservations, call Fleur de Sel at 208-777-7600.

The first time I heard of the Kermit Lynch portfolio was from Wine Club Member Bob Carmichael (Bin #103). When I got to meet someone from the importer, I was thrilled, and he was gracious enough to pour several of the French wines for me. Four of them are now on the shelf at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer, including a fantastic Beaujolais Villages, a reasonably priced Bordeaux, a dry and yummy spring time Rosé, and an Alsacian White.

It turns out that Laurent Zirotti of Fleur de Sel has been a fan of the Kermit Lynch portfolio since he had access to them in Billings. Put 1 and 1 and 1 together and PRESTO, we will be holding a fun, educational, and most of all TASTY wine dinner on June 9th!

Futher details will be forthcoming in this newsletter, but save the date, and call to get your reservations early!
