A Note from Sarah

Our tasting this weekend will not be held in a jetted tub. The Jacuzzi Family Winery comes from the same family that invented the spa tub by that name. Jacuzzi has a satisfying line up of great wines. I love the bottles too! I know, you are supposed to judge a wine by the juice not the bottle but hey, I’m an Art major and can’t help but to appreciate a great label that some artist somewhere worked hard on, right?

This weekend Russell and I will be taking our much needed, hopefully restful, post-holiday madness vacation. We’ll be open for business as usual with a tasting that shouldn’t be missed, with Roger holding down the fort with a fun team of helpers. Russell and I hope you have a great weekend and we’ll see you next week!

Jacuzzi Family Vineyards Wine Tasting this Weekend

Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!

This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be sharing a line up of California wines, featuring wine by the same family that invented the Jacuzzi spa tub. We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 4 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to beat the rush.

White Wine Mark West Chardonnay
(Central Coast, California)

This lighter-styled wine shows Monterey flavor attributes of juicy pear and crisp apple complemented by subtle cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla from oak aging. Accompanying Central Coast deep tropical fruit flavors of papayas and mangoes continue from beginning to its refreshing finish. Mark West Chardonnay tends to capture the attitude of its Central Coast origin; unpretentious, uncomplicated and at its best served with good friends, casual conversation, and lighter fare.

[Member: $10.79 / Retail: $11.99]

Red Wine Jacuzzi Merlot
(Sonoma Coast, California)

Jacuzzi Rosso di Sette Fratelli has layers of flavor…chocolate, berries and spice all working together to create a deliciously complex and elegant wine finishing with silky tannins.

[Member: $14.39 / Retail: $15.99]

Red Wine Jacuzzi Sangiovese
(Sonoma County, California)

Deep red color, bright raspberry, cherry and pepper flavors all come together in this wine with balanced acidity, medium body and moderate tannins.

[Member: $17.99 / Retail: $19.99]

Red Wine Jacuzzi Barbera
(North Coast, California)

Vibrant ruby red color with distinctive aromas of raspberry, cherry, a hint of tobacco, and a nice bright acidity create Barbera’s harmony and finesse.

[Member: $19.79 / Retail: $21.99]

Pricing disclaimer.

Fresh Beers at Enoteca Fine Wine and Beer

Too many new brews came in this week, I don’t have places to put them all! If you like sours, come in to check out Pannil Barriquee, a true Flanders Red style made in Italy, Boon Oud Gooze a multi-vintage blended lambic fully wild yeast fermented, and Duchesse de Bourgogne, the queen of Flanders Reds. I still have a couple bottles of Deschutes The Dissident, a Flanders Brown style, but if they’re still here when I get back next week they’re going in my cellar. I’m a big fan of ageable beers, and the wild yeast fermenters age very nicely.

Does sour beer sound too wierd? That’s OK, we also just got in some Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence, they should just call it OMG Chocolate, because that’s what it is! Also for Belgian lovers Gouden Carolous changed it’s Grand Cru of the Emporer line to “Cuvee Van de Keizer” and there is now the original style and the one they call “Rood” as in “red” which actually refers to a Belgian Blonde beer. It’s one tasty beverage, and while you’re at it, check out their Christmas beer, Noel. I can heartily recommend all of the Gouden Carolous beers as they are some of the most complex and interesting flavors found in beer.

Like a good dopple bock? Check out Ettaler Curator, Ayinger Celebrator, Spaten Optimator or any other beer ending in A-T-O-R.

There is a great beer tasting scheduled for Thursday, January 22nd. This is a beer tasting to definately not miss, as we will be tasting through beers of several different styles, from different countries and we’ll have the importer, Jhon Gilroy, on hand to talk about them, answer questions, and educate. The “classroom format” beer tasting is a great way to learn more about what’s in your glass and enhance your beer drinking experience.
