A Note from Sarah

Trimmed the tree? Check. Wrapped the presents? Check. Got all the food for Christmas dinner? Check. Oh wait, what about my husbands half brothers half sister twice removed? She’s coming to dinner and I don’t have a gift for her yet! This was a realization I had just yesterday. I wonder if any of you have had that recent thought. I’ve had to last minute dash all over town and let me tell you, there are a ton of last minute shoppers out there! I spent more time in the car waiting to leave the parking lot than it took to build the pyramids! I have been frustrated like all my other co-late shoppers.

After all that craziness I came in to the wine shop to help Russell. I noticed that the customers didn’t need to wait in line for a decade or bulldoze their way through cars or even get a little frustrated. Russell was able to answer questions and we have something for every wine taste. We actually had a great time chatting with the customers and it was nice to come in and get away from the major crowds.

To me Enoteca is my personal place of business, but it’s the wine and beer business. So no matter how crazy the rest of the world gets, you and I can sit back and relax with one of the best inventions known to man. I’m most likely a little biased, but honestly Russell and I are blessed to have this little shop and we want to thank you for letting us serve you. Merry Christmas to all of you. Try to enjoy the snow, winter isn’t going anywhere for awhile.

Champagne and Bold Red Wine Tasting this Weekend

Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!

This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be sharing a great selection of fine Champagne and sparkling wine and big bold luscious red wine. Come taste and find something to celebrate the New Year! We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 4 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to beat the rush.

Champagne Lunetta Prosecco
(Italy)

Lunetta (“Little Moon” in Italian) celebrates life’s small pleasures. The grapes are handpicked and vinified at Cavit’s state-of-the-art sparkling wine facility in the northern Italian region of Trentino, at the largest facility in Italy dedicated exclusively to producing world-class sparkling wines.

Enticing aromas of apple and peach give way to a palate that is refreshing, and harmonious, with crisp fruit flavors and a clean finish.

Lunetta Prosecco is delightful as an aperitif or enjoyed with antipasti, hors d’oeuvres, sushi, shellfish and seafood.

Prosecco is a great alternative to the authentic Champagne as it’s more affordable, not as “bone dry” as the Brut’s, and full flavored.

Champagne Moët and Chandon Millésimé Blanc 1999
(Champagne, France)

Aromas of fresh peach and pear, dried fruits, toast and malt notes. The palate is forceful, radiant and savory, with ample and fleshy fruitiness. The finish introduces full caramelized notes and minerality.

The makers of Dom Pérignon created this more affordable, incredible Champagne! This is a true French Champagne that is vintage specific, meaning that all the grapes were from the year on the bottle. Mmmmm…. tiny bubbles in my wine…

31% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, and 31% Pinot Meunier

[Member: $62.99 / Retail: $69.99]

Red Wine Rosenblum Château La Paws Cotes du Bone Roan 2004
(California)

This lovely Northern Rhône style wine is fruit-forward and driven by elegance and a soft mouth feel. The bouquet shows ripe cherries with hints of strawberries, rose petal and violets. The flavors are cherry cola with elements of wild herbs and smoked bacon.

70% Syrah, 12% Zinfandel, 10% Mourvedre, and 8% Carignane.

This is what I like to call “inky and stinky.” Full bodied, rich and showing off that “French nose” of a Rhone style blend.

[Member: $14.39 / Retail: $15.99]

Red Wine Glen Eldon Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
(Barossa Valley, Australia)

This deep red brick Cabernet exhibits a nose of blackcurrant, plum and chocolate and a palate of mixed berries, plum, chocolate and spice.

Enjoy this wine with oven roasted duck, game or a chunk of parmesan.

95 Points James Halliday, 90 Points Stephen Tanzer

Here’s what Josh Reynolds had to say:

Spicy red and dark berry flavours are impressively precise and nicely framed by fine-grained tannins. Develops a chewy texture with air and finishes bright and fresh, with repeating mineral and floral pastille notes and impressive persistence.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

This is a good bottle of wine! Smoothe and well-rounded, doing Cabernet the Australian style!

[Member: $25.19 / Retail: $27.99]
