Casa Ventura Spanish Wine Tasting This Weekend
Start the weekend out right at Enoteca - Fine Wine & Beer!
This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting Laura Stiff of Casa Ventura Imports as she shares a delicious selection of wine from Spain. We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 5 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to beat the rush.
Castelo de Medina is an amazing wine with a very good structure and terroir in both nose and mouth. Castelo de Medina is fresh, lively and very aromatic, filled with fruits like pears, mangos, pineapple, lemon and mineral notes typical of the Verdejo grapes. It is really fresh and it has a nice structured body, balanced with crisp and nice acidity and also some citric hints. This is a great wine for all kinds of appetizers, seafood or chicken, paella and tapas. Verdejo was used in the past for “solera” wines, very aged and over oxidized, but nowadays, the young Verdejos are fruity and easy, fresh and crisp with good body. One of the best value Verdejos you’ll find!
100% Verdejo

Casa de Illana Joven has very intense aromas, absolutely fruit forward, with wonderful, explosive ripe strawberries, raspberries and black cherries. In the mouth, it is a burst of fruit and freshness, very pleasant and with a long lasting, nice finish. This is a perfect wine for your barbecue events. It goes great with meats, but also with cream sauces, seafood pastas and PIZZA! It is a very versatile wine, a great pairing for any tapas dish!
85% Tempranillo, 15% Syrah
[Member: $16.19 / Retail: $17.99]
An absolute wonder! This 50/50 blend of Tempranillo and Syrah is a true delight. This wine boasts intense aromas of deep ripe fruits, floral touches and hints of cinnamon and coffee. In the mouth it is potent and well structured with a great balance of fruit and oak. This wine is aromatic and fruity to the mid palate before a finish marked by its aging in first-class wood.
50% Shyraz, 50% Tempranillo
[Member: $13.49 / Retail: $14.99]
Finca La Estacada 6 months uses an excellent selection of Tempranillo grapes for this amazing value wine. Its deep red and purple color indicates strength and youth. The aromas of this wine are very intense and fruit forward, with blackberries, black currants and some minerals and balsamic notes showing a strong terroir. In the mouth, it is powerful, fleshy and yet refreshing with firm, round tannins and an excellent acidity. Perfect for all kinds of meats, pasta, rice dishes and “tapas”. 88 Points Wine Advocate
100% Tempranillo
[Member: $12.59 / Retail: $13.99]
Damana Crianza is a wine to fall in love with. The quality of it and the value that it represents will make you go crazy for it. Darker than its little brother Damana 5 and more concentrated in aromas, it shows dark ripe fruits like blackberries and plum skin and also lilacs, chocolate mouse and the minerals of its land. A wonderful wine that you won’t forget that shows the real Ribera del Duero, with its fruit and its minerals and its power.
[Member: $29.69 / Retail: $32.99]

Brews That Have Recently Been Spotted at Enoteca
Enoteca currently sports 900+ unique wines and 300+ unique beers on the shelf. New wine and beer
is arriving every week, and unless we’ve seen you in the last few hours, there’s probably something
new that you may want to know about. Therefore, we want to introduce you to a few new brews.
Russell has taken the time this week to taste each of these beers and offer a few recommendations.
120 minutes of continuously hopping the boil. 1 month of daily dry hopping. 20% ABV. Dare I say DFH has created the hoppiest beer of all time? This beer drinks suprisingly well for that level of intensity. They must have contributed an uber amount of barley malt to balance it out. This week, thanks to Beer Club Member Ethan Anyan, we opened a bottle. I definately gets better as the beer temperature approaches room temperature, but worth starting cold. The beer’s enticing aroma is noticable a room away when it’s simply poured into a glass.
Dulle Teve means “Mad Bitch” but the U.S. Government doesn’t like that name, so the label now says “Tripel” instead. This is one delicious beer! A Belgian Tripel style, that simply rocks. You can drink it in “fresh” state for three years, and age it up to 10 years to see how it evolves. It’s reported to darken and lose some of its 30 IBU’s of bitterness with a decade. Serve in a Trappist glass or Tulip style.
Stille Nacht is German for “Silent Night” and is the De Dolle Brewer’s Christmas beer. This one wins the award for “Most unique tasting beer that still tastes incredibly good.”
These crazy Gnomes! This Belgian blondie is a full flavored beer that is perfect for the summer and fall seasons. Try it when you’re feeling gnomish.
Remember the Orphans
Even more orphans have been piled on! The orphan shelf has a lot of great values for Club members.
Several bottles of wine were discovered that have been waiting for a home,
and some beer has even migrated to the orphan shelf.
Club members receive a 20% discount whenever they adopt an orphan. Find it in your heart.
Don’t let them continue in such crowded conditions.
A wide range of very delicious bottles are currently up for adoption. Come peer into the glassed-over eyeballs of these little fellas and see if one of them doesn’t tug at your heart. Pleeeze sir, can I have some more?
