Oregon Pinot Wine Tasting this Weekend

Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!

This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting Kevin Olsonberg of Odom as he shares a delicious selection of Oregon Pinot Noir wine to taste and enjoy. We want to give you the opportunity to “try before you buy” so we offer a flight of wine for a low cost. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 5 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up with a glass. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to beat the rush.

White Wine Erath Pinot Gris 2006 (Oregon)
Erath Pinot Gris has an interesting floral note of gardenia. That aroma is coupled with obvious pear, melon, banana, and faint green apple. In the mouth the flavors echo the aromatic fruits. The wine enters the mouth with a hint of sweetness then broadens to a medium rich body, and tails to lingering fruit flavors leaving the mouth feeling refreshed for another sip. In the traditional Erath style, this wine is built to serve as an aperitif or an accompaniment to food.

Beautiful with all kinds of seafood, especially shell fish, mollusks and trout; turkey; pork; Asian dishes; and light to medium spicy foods.
[Member: $12.59 / Retail: $13.99]

Red Wine Willamette Valley Vineyards Whole Berry Pinot Noir 2006
(Willamette Valley, Oregon)

Vibrant and explosive aromas of roses, cherries and wild strawberries dominate with hints of sweet juice and warm spices. Flavors mirror aromas with strawberries, and cherries dominating complemented by juicy and spicy characters. The mouthfeel is soft, round, juicy and well-balanced with fresh acidity which highlights the fruitiness. Peak drinkability is 2008-2010, as in Right Now!

Wonderful by itself or with turkey, hamburgers, pizza, grilled fish, lighter wild fowl, or pasta dishes with sun dried tomatoes. Serve at slightly lower than room temperature or moderately chilled on warmer days.
[Member: $20.69 / Retail: $22.99]

Red Wine Erath Pinot Noir 2006 (Oregon)
Black cherry aromas, underscored by sweet mandarin orange, greet the nose as warm, clove-laced vanilla wafts gently among subtle hints of anise and caramel. The wine opens on the palate with more hints of sweet black cherry, which flows seamlessly into a supple silkiness. Versatile with food: fish, fowl, beef, and pasta.

Try this with Thai or Chinese pepper sauce, grilled scallops, thin crust pizza margherita, pasta with red sauce, and zesty BBQ.
[Member: $17.99 / Retail: $19.99]

Red Wine Rex Hill Pinot Noir 2006 (Willamette Valley, Oregon)
Brilliant saturated clear garnet from rim to the center. Aromas of bing cherries, ripe raspberries, blueberries, red currents, minerals, tobacco, game and Indian spices jump from the glass when the wine is poured. In time the wine opens to reveal notes of juicy red fruits, beeswax, cloves, sweet oak and more savory/musky notes of crushed herbs, tea and clean earth.

Deep red fruit flavors cascade over the palate on the attack and lead to a lush, deep mid-palate. Showing the power and concentration of the 2006 vintage, the wine hits its stride on the finish. Strong structure from the ripe tannins and depth of fruit give great length and focus to the finish. While large scaled and weighty, the 2006 Rex Hill Willamette Valley Pinot Noir still shows the integrity and balance that has become the hallmark of classic Oregon Pinot Noir and that will allow it to become more complex over the next 10 years.
[Member: $21.59 / Retail: $23.99]

Red Wine King Estate Pinot Noir 2006 (Oregon)
The color is bright garnet with ruby tint clarity and brilliance. On the nose it shows cherry, raspberry jam, blueberry, and oak spice notes. The mouthfeel displays a soft entry, full body with flavors of dark cherry, raspberry and blue fruits.
[Member: $26.99 / Retail: $29.99]

Congratulations Ironman Athletes

Matt Congratulations Ironman Athletes! Wine Club Member Matt Fuller (Bin # 172) trained all year for the competition and did great. As you can see, he’s so fast he’s blurry! This is Matt finishing with his daughter by his side at 13:59:51. Congratulations also to Wine Club Member Heath Wiltse (Bin # 65) of World Gym who finished in 10:24:14.

Russell, Sarah, and the boys took a drive to watch the people running by Lake Coeur d’ Alene. It looked pretty tough, we got thirsty just watching the runners.

For those who dream of competing next year, less than 150 general entry spots remain for 2009 Ironman Coeur d’Alene. In related news, Enoteca’s Club Member Bins are nearly full, but we’ll still let you join, if you haven’t already.
