May Beer Tasting – Sierra Nevada with Chris Hem

Sierra Nevada Beer Tasting

Thursday, May 22nd
Beginning at 6 p.m.
Taste 7 beers
Only $10 per person
The May Beer Tasting is going to be great! Enoteca is hosting Chris Hem from Sierra Nevada.

Bring Your Growlers! Chris dug up something new and interesting from the Sierra Nevada brewery, so bring your growler so you can take some home! We will have growlers on hand for you if you need.

Do you think Sierra Nevada is all about the Pale Ale? It’s a great beer, but there is much more to be tasted from this brewery. We will be tasting some new and exciting Hoppy Beer from the Chico hop superstars. Can you imagine a beer made with hops from New Zealand? What would that be like? Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has a proud history as one of the pioneers of the craft brewing industry and as a brewer of award-winning beers since 1981. Chris Hem always comes with a pile of stories and great information about these hoppy beers.

The tasting starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd. Tickets to attend are $10, paid in advance. Attendees will receive a beer glass and most importantly, learn about, and taste, more great beer!

Chinook Winery Wine Tasting

Start the weekend out right at Enoteca – Fine Wine & Beer!

This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting Darin Roberson of Vehrs as he shares a selection from Chinook Winery of Yakima Valley. These delicious value-driven wines are worth a try, and these guys have been making wine for 25 years! We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well, which is a great time to taste wine to beat the rush. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 5 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up for $5 per 5 oz. glass.

White Wine Chinook Winery Semillon 2006 (Yakima Valley, Washington)
Food pairing? Semillon (say-meel-yohn) is a favorite with fish tacos, made with grilled halibut and green salsa; also great with dishes which have an Asian flair and flavors of sesame, soy and cilantro. This one is fresh, not very heavily oaked and delicious with a variety of savory foods. Semillion is one of the traditional white Bordeaux grapes.

Red Wine Chinook Winery Cabernet Franc Rosé 2007 (Yakima Valley, Washington)
This is a Rosé (ro-zay) of Cabernet Franc (ka-behr-nay frahnk), which is unique enough that everyone should give it a try! Do you think that because it’s pink it must be sweet? Think again! French winemakers have been dedicating as much effort to their gourmet Rosé’s for years, and this is an example of a Washington State winemaker delving into this delightful practice. A great wine for summertime freshness with a fuller body and flavor than most whites.
[Member: $15.29 / Retail: $16.99]

Red Wine Chinook Winery Red Blend NV (Yakima Valley, Washington)
The flavors are rich, including vanilla bean, & fresh and dried berries. There is a nutlike/spicy component in the aroma and we are certain it will taste great with braised meats with wine sauce, Bolognese over pasta, or lamb-burgers on the grill.
[Member: $13.49 / Retail: $14.99]

Red Wine Chinook Winery Cabernet Franc 2006 (Yakima Valley, Washington)
The bright, ruby color of this Cabernet Franc (ka-behr-nay frahnk) entices you to experience our soft, fruit-driven style in this vintage. Aromas of dried cherry, vanilla and plum combine in our new release. They crushed Cab Franc grapes from four vineyard sources, including the Chinook “Estate” vineyard. The bottling blend combines flavors ranging from the chocolate-y Carter Vineyard to the bright cherry flavor from Den Hoed Vineyard. Some favorite food pairings include wine-marinated beef stew & grilled salmon with blueberry salsa.
[Member: $19.79 / Retail: $21.99]

Red Wine Chinook Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 (Yakima Valley, Washington)
The bottle bouquet on this Yakima Valley Cab is still developing, however you will find its character plummy & balanced. This wine displays a range of flavor & aroma that must be explored.
[Member: $24.29 / Retail: $26.99]

Long Shadows Vintners
Long Shadows Vintners
It’s about time for the 2nd Annual Enoteca Long Shadows Vintners tasting event!

This is the one tasting event of the year that you don’t want to miss!

To taste all of these wines by buying the bottles, it would cost you $375 plus tax. This is an incredible opportunity to taste them all for only $35.

Washington State has a secret weapon in the wine making world. Allen Shoup. Allen is the visionary behind the Long Shadows project, which brings in the best wine makers in the world to make great Washignton State wines. We love these wines so much we want to share them with as many people as possible.

Saturday June 14th, at 6:00 p.m., at Enoteca in Post Falls, we will be sharing all seven Long Shadows Vintners wines. Here is the list: Poet’s Leap Riesling, Chester-Kidder, Pirouette, Sequel Syrah, Saggi, Pedestal Merlot, and of course the Feather Cabernet Sauvignon. 2 oz. of each wine will be poured. This is a unique opportunity as these wines are extremely limited in nature and this is the only time of year we can get them all together in one place. As with all of our tasting events, the ticket price is simply to cover the cost of pouring the wine.

The tasting starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th.
Tickets to attend are $35 per seat, paid in advance.
Only 20 seats are available to this event.

Through the Grapevine
An Illustrated Guide to Wine Grapes
by Candace Ann Frasher

Earlier this year we had the wonderful experience of meeting Candace Frasher, the author of an excellent beginners style book about wine. This handsome paperback is illustrated with artistic watercolors and speaks about the primary grapes used for making wine. Included are pronounciations, illustrations, food pairing ideas, tasting note space, and grape “personalities” that make for a fun introduction to wine.

Candace is a fun and caring person who just wants to spread the joy of wine. These make an excellent gift for someone new to enjoying fine wine.

Special Event: Candace will be at Enoteca on Friday, May 30th from 4-7 for a book signing! We’ll be sharing a special selection of wine for our wine tasting that expresses the flavor of the book.

Price: $12.99 each.

Club members can have tickets simply added to their Bin, and anyone can pick one up by coming into Enoteca in Post Falls, calling us at 208-457-9885 or sending us email at service@corkjoy.com .
