Washington Wines Tasting
Start the weekend out right at Enoteca - Fine Wine & Beer! This
Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting Michael Wiley as he shares a selection of Wasington wines. We will be tasting
Saturday from 12-7 as well. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 4 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up for $5 per glass, except the Pedestal Merlot which is $10 per glass (4 oz. pour).
Long Shadows Poets Leap Riesling 2005 (Columbia Valley, Washington) - Inspired by the greatest wines of Germany and crafted by Armin Diel, proprietor of the renowned Schlossgut Diel. The 2005 vintage of Poet’s Leap is an off-dry wine with expressive, spicy aromatics and generous, lively flavors. Fresh melon, honey, ripe apricot and a hint of citrus jump on the palate leaving a vibrant, racy impression on the long, clean finish.

Townshend Lemberger 2005 (Columbia Valley, Washington) - Try this excellent off-the-beaten-path wine from Spokane winery Townshend Cellars. The Lemberger grape was reportedly very popular with Napoleon Bonaparte and Otto von Bismark. This wine displays a bright color and exhibits aromas of black cherry and spice. The palate is smooth with a good backbone of tannins.
[Member: $15.29 / Retail: $16.99]
Forgeron Walldeaux Smithie N/V (Columbia Valley, Washington) - Walldeaux Smithie is bold and juicy with a firm structure. The full flavors and smooth tannins suggest a new world wine while its focus and balance, dark fruit and spice flavors are definitely reminiscent of old world Bordeaux.
55% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10.5% Syrah, 7% Zinfandel, 3.5% Cabernet Franc
[Member: $16.19 / Retail: $17.99]
Long Shadows Pedestal Merlot 2004 (Columbia Valley, Washington) - Michel Rolland, Pomerol vintner and consultant to many of the world’s most famous wineries, selected vineyards within the Columbia Valley to produce a Merlot that exemplifies the complexity and concentration of flavors for which his wines are internationally known.
Dark cherry and blackberry aromas compliment an appealing hint of toasty oak in this dense, deeply concentrated Merlot. Rich at entry, with added intensity on the mid-palate, the finish provides a lingering impression of layered black fruit.
