ABC Wine Tasting Anything But Cabernet with Darin Roberson

Start the New Year out right at Enoteca - Fine Wine & Beer! This Friday from 4-7 Enoteca will be hosting Darin Roberson as he shares an exciting selection of wine. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-7 as well. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 5 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up for $5 per glass (5 oz. pour), except the Andrew Will, which is $10 per glass. White Wine Dunham 4 Legged White 2005 (Columbia Valley, Washington) - This first Riesling from Dunham Cellars shows crisp, ripe green apple, lemon meringue and hints of coconut on the nose. A wonderfully rich yet refreshing mouth with apples, pineapple and pear notes with mango riding along… Left with a little bit of residual sugar, this wine makes a perfect complement to foods with spice. 87% Riesling, 13% Chardonnay Multi-Gold Medal Winner [Member: $17.99 / Retail: $19.99] Red Wine Dunham 3 Legged Red 2006 (Columbia Valley, Washington) - Each year, Dunham Cellars blends a portion of its wines into this red table wine. Using fruit from all of their estate vineyards and using the same barrels in which our finest Cabernet, Merlots and Syrahs are aged, they are able to maintain the consistent high quality of our top wine, as well as create a great everyday wine that is price-friendly. Hear about this wine’s namesake from the winemaker:
It was a sunny day in the summer of ’94 when I met Port. Outside I heard the distinct sound of an animal in distress. It took only moments to realize what was happening across the field from my house — a very small animal had fallen into harms way and was being attacked by a Pit Bull. I ran to the scene, broke up the fight and found that the small animal was a puppy that was very badly injured. Instinctively, I wrapped him up and took him to the veterinarian. I agreed to pay for the emergency surgery and recovery. The puppy had lost a leg, but found a home. With only three legs, and two on the port side, I named him Port, and he is my best friend. – Eric Dunham, Winemaker
[Member: $17.99 / Retail: $19.99] Red Wine Santa Ema Carmenere 2001 (Rapel Valley, Chile) - This wine is a deep red with a purple tinge, and sports intense fruity aromas, ripe cherries and a hint of herbs mixed with notes of chocolate. On the palate it is round, full bodied with high extract, which is balanced by a pleasant fruity finish. 100% Carmenère [Member: $10.79 / Retail: $11.99] Red Wine Mercedes Eguren 2005 (Spain) - Intense, ripe fruit, floral touches and hints of cinnamon and toffee. In the mouth it is potent and structured, fruity and aromatic to the mid-palate before a finish marked by its ageing in first-class wood. 50% Shyraz, 50% Tempranillo [Member: $13.49 / Retail: $14.99] Red Wine Andrew Will Cuvee Lucia Sangiovese 2004 (Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, Red Mountain, Washington) - This wine is adorable, immediately lovable. The wine is giving with a lingering and satisfying finish. The nose is filled with dried currant and spice. While the core of the wine is firm and pliable, it still has the structure to age. The fruit is from Ciel Du Cheval Vineyard. This is a medium bodied wine with a sexy appeal. [Member: $30.59 / Retail: $33.99] Pricing disclaimer.

  • The beer must be brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey, by or under control of Trappist monks.
  • The brewery, the choices of brewing, and the commercial orientations must obviously depend on the monastic community.
  • The economic purpose of the brewery must be directed toward assistance and not toward financial profit.
