French Wine Tasting Event - Beaujolais Nouveau Party

Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! Every year on the third Thursday of November, the new wine from Beaujolais France is introduced with this proclaimation. This wine is made from the Gamay grape and makes this weekend a special French party! Therefore we are showing off several excellent French wines, from all over France, in several different styles. These also have great prices to show that French wine doesn’t have to all be expensive classified Bordeaux. Taste through this generous lineup and find out which type of French wine you like! Start the holiday season out right with Enoteca - Fine Wine & Beer! This Friday from 4-8 Enoteca will be hosting Debbie Keller of IWM as she shares an interesting selection of French Wine. We will be tasting Saturday from 12-8 as well. Taste a flight (2 oz. each of 6 wines) for $10 per flight, and follow up for $5 per glass (5 oz. pour). White Wine J.M. Monmousseau Vouvray (Loire, France) - This semi-dry wine is young and beautiful in a straw yellow. The nose and palate both produce sweet apple and lime. The wine is balanced with aroma and firmness, and is made entirely of Chenin Blanc. This wine is great young and can be aged for 5-6 years, when it will turn toward golden and amber hues. Club Member: $11.69 (10% off) / Retail: $12.99 White Wine Joseph Drouhin Laforet Chardonnay 2006 (Burgundy, France) - The wine is very aromatic, full of life and fruit. It has fresh and crispy notes, with crushed grapes and almond flavours. There is no residual sugar. This is a wine to enjoy young, alone as an aperitif or with light meat or any seafood. Club Member: $10.79 (10% off) / Retail: $11.99 Red Wine Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne Pinot Noir (Burgundy, France) - It is well known that the Gauls planted Pinot Noir before the Roman invasion. In 150 BC, the first vineyards of this grape variety appeared at the top of the hills of Meursault and Pommard. The Romans, in turn, noticed that it liked light soil, a temperate climate, and that it did best facing East. With such a long history, it is clear that no other grape fits the climate and soil of Burgundy better than Pinot. This elegant wine is a great accompaniment to poultry, white meats, and soft cheese. The hue is a brillant ruby-garnet color. The nose offers effusive aromas of crushed berries (raspberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant come to mind). On the palate, the wine is full of charm and very pleasant to drink: fresh and fruity berry flavours with light and elegant tannins. Drink young. Club Member: $12.59 (10% off) / Retail: $13.99 Red Wine Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Nouveau (Beaujolais, France) - Each year the Beaujolais Nouveau is first tasted no sooner than the third Thursday of November, this Thursday. Be one of the first to taste this wine in 2007! Here’s what Drouhin said about the 2006 vintage:
Vibrant red berry flavor, enhanced on the palate by a wonderfully refreshing acidity. The tannic structure is most supple and refined, making them a sheer pleasure to drink.
Red Wine Emilio Bordeaux Merlot (Bordeaux, France) - The wine displays a friendly nose of sweet black cherries, strawberries and perfume of iris blossoms. Wild berry flavors dominate, with toasty and earthy notes fleshing out the creamy mid-palate. A lingering, chalky finish is complemented by very fine and elegant tannins. Club Member: $11.69 (10% off) / Retail: $12.99 Red Wine Jaboulet Cotes du Rhone ‘Parallele 45′ Rouge 2006 (Rhone, France) - This wine is named for the 45th North parallel which runs two kilometers from Jaboulet’s cellars. In the village of Pont de l’Isère, a monument bears the words: “Here begins the South.” Borne from the family’s pride in generations of winemaking, this Jaboulet wine known as ‘Parallèle 45′ has had this name since the 1950s. The wine has a deep color, with elegant and expressive aromas of red fruits and spices. On the palate, the wine has a solid structure, ripe tannins and a spicy character. “Very pure and fresh, with purple and blue fruits leading the way, followed by notes of tar, violets and mineral. Open-knit but has some grip too. Delicious. Drink now.” -Wine Spectator, 88 points Foods to pair with include: turkey, roasts, red meat, pork, lamb, grilled vegetables, game, fowl, and beef. 60% Grenache, 40% Syrah. Club Member: $10.79 (10% off) / Retail: $11.99 Pricing disclaimer.

Freestyle Beer Tasting

Barleywine Freestyle Beer Tasting - Wednesday, November 14th from 5-7 Those who attended the Sierra Nevada Beer Tasting event are aware that the Bigfoot Barleywine is coming soon! Next Wednesday, November 14th we will be opening the Bigfoot. For this Freestyle Beer Tasting, we’re inviting everyone to buy and share one of the many Barleywine beer’s available, such as Stone Old Guardian, Full Sail Old Boarhead, Flying Dog Horn Dog, Avery Hog Heaven, Fish Tale 102, Fish Tale Leviathan, etc. Barleywine is a style of strong ale originating in England in the nineteenth century but now brewed worldwide. It is the strongest member of the bitter family of styles, reaching ABV’s of 8-12% and up. It is called a barley wine because it can be as strong as wine; but since it is made from grain rather than fruit, it is in fact a beer. What is Freestyle Beer Tasting? Learn more here!
