Blends Wine Tasting Event
Start your weekend out right with Fine Wine & Beer! This Friday from 4-8 Enoteca will be sharing a great selection of Blends. We will be pouring these wines Saturday from 12-8 as well, which is usually a less crowded time to taste wine. Taste a flight (3 oz. of each wine) for $10 per flight, and follow up for $5 per glass (5 oz. pour), except The Prisoner which is $10 per glass.
Antonio Sanguineti Vincero! 2006 (Tuscany, Italy) - “Maestro†Sanguineti, Tuscany’s beloved winemaker and enological ambassador, has made a white wine compliment to his incredibly popular “Nessun Dorma†Super Tuscan. In fact, Vincero! takes its name from the last line of Nessun Dorma, and means simply, “I will triumph!†And indeed, we believe he has with this terrific blend of the increasingly popular Vermentino, Malvasia, and Chardonnay. Crisp yet lush, it is approachable enough to sip, yet will pair with serious foods. 50% Vermentino, 30% Malvasia, 20% Chardonnay These are the last bottles available at this time.
Retail: $10.99 / Club Member: $9.89 (10% off)
Folie a Deux Menage a Trois 2006 (Napa Valley, California) - This wine exposes the fresh, ripe, jam-like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Three saucy grapes make up the blend. Zinfandel adds a juicy character, Merlot mellows and Cabernet adds backbone. Forward, spicy and soft, this delicious dalliance makes the perfect trio, and makes the perfect accompaniment for grilled meats or chicken.
Retail: $11.99 / Club Member: $10.79 (10% off)
Mystery Blend - We’re not telling much about this Bordeaux style red blend that’s under $20. You’ll have to come taste it.
Orin Swift The Prisoner 2005 (Napa Valley, California) - The nose of this delicious wine is sweet ripe, quietly smoky, and very attractively fruity, as hints of licorice root, black tea, vanilla and coffee toffee meld seamlessly with dark cherry, plum and blackberry scents in a forward and engaging mix. The wine is every bit as charming on the palate, where the creamy vanilla, toffee and black tea notes are reprised while the flavors shift toward pomegranate and red raspberry. The finish is lingering and never less than silky, and those savory tea/toast notes keep the wine’s fruitiness from overstating itself. With airing, a more Zin-like personality emerges and black pepper, red raspberry, plum and pomegranate take center stage. Lovely already, it will serve brilliantly with many dishes, from rich roasts to bread and cheese picnics. The blend is 48% Zinfandel, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon 14% Syrah, 10% Petite Sirah and 2% Charbono. 93 points Wine Spectator These are the last bottles available of this award-winning vintage.
Retail: $36.99 / Club Member: $33.29 (10% off)

Axel Schug of Schug Winery Special Event
Thursday, October 4th, Axel Schug will be at Enoteca to share a selection of his wines. Axel is the son of Walter Schug, Winemaster Emeritus, and the winemaker made famous by his back to back 99 and 98 point Robert Parker ratings on the 1978 and 1979 vintages of Joseph Phelps Insignia. Walter’s own winery, Schug, is creating some of the most exciting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines.
Some highlights you’ll want to enjoy are the 91 Points Wine & Spirits Carneros Chardonnay, 90 Points Wine Enthusiast Carneros Pinot Noir, and the limited production Cabernet Franc. If you’ve seen the movie Sideways, you’ll want to hear Axel’s take on the movie’s treatment of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and especially Merlot, while we are tasting one of each of those varieties. Read more about Walter Schug’s life and winemaking here.
More information will be available in future newsletter issues. This is a special limited attendance ticketed tasting event.
Tickets are $15 per person, and it is almost full, so don’t hesitate to make reservations. Come by Enoteca, call 208-457-9885, or email to secure your space: service@corkjoy.com!
Freestyle Beer Tasting
Freestyle Beer Tasting - September 27th at 6:00 p.m.
The first “Oktoberfest” took place on October 12, 1810: For the commemoration of their marriage, Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen (namesake of the Theresienwiese festival grounds) organized a great horse race. The traditional party lasts for the last two weeks of September and into the first week of Oktober.
In the spirit of the German party, we’re dubbing this week’s Freestyle Beer Tasting “The Oktoberfest.” We’d like to invite anyone who is interested to come to Entoeca for a “Freestyle Tasting.” What is Freestyle Beer Tasting? Learn more here!
