Weekend Tasting: St. Patrick’s Day Wine Tasting
It’s the Luck O’The Irish don’t you know? This Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00-7:00 p.m. Enoteca will be presenting a festive selection of St. Patrick’s Day wine. Darin from Vehrs will be on hand from 4:00-7:00 on Friday to answer questions! Taste these wines for $3 per glass or $6 per flight. |
Terre Gaie Mosaico 2005 (Veneto, Italy) – Bright, zesty, and citrusy, this is precisely the reason we love simple Italian white wines. It is light-hearted and balanced, with a nice, swelling mid-palate, and great acidity. Not meant to be aged, this is clearly a drink it now, drink it fresh selection that is great in hot weather, or when its cold and you’re in a sweater. Enjoy with aged, sharp cheese drizzled in olive oil. 50% Pinello, 40% Chardonnay, 10% Serpino
Bohemian Highway Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 (California) – This is dark and concentrated, with layers of black cherry, chocolate and plum. So take a little detour, and enjoy the ride.
Ryan Patrick Rock Island Red 2004 (Columbia Valley, Washington) – The blending philosophy for the Rock Island Red is to create a wine that is approachable and drinks well young. The result is a fruit forward wine that tastes great now, and will drink well for the next 5 years. Aromas of black cherry and currants emanate from the glass and are complemented with subtle hints of vanilla bean.
Brian Carter Abracadabra 2003 (Columbia Valley, Washington) – Abracadabra is a blend that uses the same great red varietals and European and French oak barrels used in Brian Carter Cellars wines but the blend varies each year depending on the ‘Magic’ of the harvest. While using traditional grape varieties, Abracadabra is anything but traditional in its final blend. Instead it is a bit unpredictable, curious, mysterious and amazingly delicious. Dark in color, the wine’s aroma is full of blueberries and raspberries. Big flavors show soft, well integrated tannins and a long finish. Be careful or you might fall under the spell of Abracadabra!

Leonetti Cellar: Limited Availability
Gary Figgins’ first exposure to the world of wine came as a child when his maternal grandparents—immigrants from Italy who settled in the Walla Walla Valley—served him small portions of diluted wine produced by hand in their dirt floored cellar. Frank and Rose Leonetti never conceived that years after their deaths these first tastes of wine would inspire the birth of a winery that would place their name on bottles of world-class wines: Leonetti Cellar.
The new release of Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 and Merlot 2005 is now available in very limited quantities. We are taking orders and will fill as many as we can, starting with Wine Club Members.
Leonetti Cellar Merlot 2005 (Columbia Valley, WA) – This is what Robert Parker said about the 2004 vintage:
“Though less powerful than the 2003, the aromatically floral 2004 Merlot holds its own in a qualitative comparison. Its nose of roses, wild berries, and cherries leads to a medium to full-bodied, pure core of spicy black cherries. An elegant yet full-flavored wine, it is a candidate for drinking over the next 8-9 years.”
The 2004 vintage earned 94 points, and the 2003 earned 95 points from Robert Parker’s “Wine Advocate.”
$86.99 each / $79.19 for Club Members (10% off).
Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 (Walla Walla, WA) – This is what Robert Parker said about the 2003 vintage of this wine:
“A stupendous effort, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon sports deep aromas of sweet black fruits immersed in spices. Big, powerful, and robust, it coats the palate with tar, licorice, stewed black cherries, and cassis liqueur yet retains an awe-inspiring juiciness and verve. In addition, this medium to full-bodied wine reveals an extremely long finish studded with exquisitely ripened tannin. Drink it over the next 14-15 years.”
The 2003 vintage earned 96 points from Robert Parker’s “Wine Advocate.”
$99.99 each / $89.99 for Club Members (10% off).
