Weekend Tasting: Sarah’s Picks with IWM

This Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00-7:00 p.m. Enoteca will be presenting Sarah’s Birthday wine choices. DJ from IWM will be on hand from 4:00-7:00 on Friday to answer questions! Taste these wines for $3 per glass or $6 per flight.
While you’re at it, read the Spokesman Review article that quotes her. Sarah’s a special woman and she matured to the ripe old age of 23 on Monday. Don’t forget to tell her “Happy Birthday” when you see her.
  • Red Wine Stomp Merlot from Dusted Valley Vintners 2004 (Walla Walla, WA) – YUMMY! Stomp is a no-nonsense wine–just juicy dark fruit, deliciously toasty oak, and a remarkably long finish for a wine in this category. This one will keep your friends happy.
  • Red Wine Rosenblum Mourvedre 2003 (San Francisco, California) – It is rare to find a bottle of wine made primarily from Mourvedre, a traditional Rhone style blending grape. This wine is 96% Mourvedre and 4% Carignane. This is a Mourvedre that shows the delicate, yet full, mouthfeel associated with ripe Mourvedre. The bouquet is of fresh cut roses and Bing cherries with hints of violets and smoked meats. The flavors are deep cherry with elements of plums and slight smokey earth tones in the finish.
  • Red Wine Amano Primitivo (Puglia, Italy) – Primitivo, from Italy’s southern region of Puglia, has long been recognized as having a clonal link to California’s Zinfandel. This wine has a nose of blueberry, allspice, black cherry, with a palate expressing fresh berry, and light spice. It pairs well with spicy cheese, barbecued meats, and chocolate.
  • Red Wine Fox Creek Vixen Sparkling Shiraz (McLaren Vale, Australia)90 Points Wilfred Wong. Enticing and amazing, the Fox Creek Vixen a blend of 52% Shiraz, 32% Cabernet Franc, and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, explodes with ripe fruit flavors; dry; great with grilled ribs.
  • White Wine Chaucer’s Mead (Northern California) – Chaucer’s has won gold medal winning dessert-style wines for decades. These elegant wines are produced from 100% pure fruit or natural honey without the addition of artificial flavors. The distinct taste of these wines can be enjoyed in the tradition of Medieval England. In the spirit of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, experience these unique wines as a pilgrimage in sensory delight. The Mead can be enjoyed in one of two ways, either chilled or heated with spices to create a delicious wintery drink. 92 Points Wine Enthusiast.
